I love the egg colour variations in the purebred breeding pens. The blue Araucana, light brown speckled from the Barnevelder, some beautiful light pinks in the Brahma, green from the Oliver Eggers but my absolute favorite is the Black Copper Marans with their rich dark brown.

I was so shocked when I saw this little cutie in the paddock with our big girls. We only just got a bull a month ago!
My overactive imagination was ping ponging between.
‘Wow, that was fast!’ And
‘This cow is part Komodo dragon!’
Then I realised there had been a bull next door. So thanks friendly neighbourhood bull, mystery solved.

Was an amazing day yesterday!
We had a large Home School group come out for a visit. The animals were thrilled with all the attention.
We bought our ‘chairs’ (aka hay bales) for the chick cuddling station from Hepple Farming, the animals will happily recycle them for us later.

We believe it is important to let our chickens roam and scratch in the dirt! All of our hens are heritage breeds and not commercial layers so they enjoy a longer, healthier life. Our heritage hens lay fewer eggs but the eggs come in many different colours. Taste the difference in freshness!

There is Chicken, duck, goose and quail eggs in the incubator room at the moment. Going to have to start loading up the 3rd cabinet incubator.

My dad calls Moxie ‘That ugly, fluffy, white thing’. 😱
I think she is such a little cutie 🥰. Love her so much and she is great with the calves.

A huge thank you to our Volunteers this weekend!

A special thanks to Sade, Luci, Khellan and Amahli who have come camping to help at the farm for a couple of days.

Moxie the mini cow is well brushed and fluffy, the horses relaxed and brushed, baby chicks well cuddled and well fed, enclosures are sparkling, the feeders and waters are all topped up. We even collected and bagged some fruit. The animals and I are thrilled!
