At Pets with Pawsonality

Here at Pets with Pawsonality my mission is to pass on my knowledge of animal health to my clients and to help improve their pet’s lives, by having your dog groomed. It’s important to keep your best friend’s coat and skin clean and healthy.

believe it’s important for you to be able to trust who you leave your best friend with. To develop a trusting and special relationship with your qualified groomer. I do my absolute best to make grooming the most positive experience for your pet. In every treatment I use Australian made products with fresh warm water with a calming massage. Their ears are plucked/cleaned as well as their eyes are cleaned (if required), nails trimmed and a**l glands are expressed (if needed & required). During the entire grooming process, I am always checking over your dog’s coat and skin for any nasty parasites or skin allergies. All dogs leave smelling and feeling marvelous. I offer all Grooming, Styling, Washing, Clipping and Sc******ng Needs, Flea & Tick Treatment Rinse, Nail Trimming, A**l Gland Expression, Hygiene/Sanitary Trims, Face, Feet, Ears & Tail Trims, Ear Plucking, Ear and Eye Cleaning. On every dog’s 6th visit they receive a gift pack of products which is applied during bathing your pet (Shampoo & Conditioner) & a sample of Dogi-Deli Treats, its nice way to say Thank you! Pets With Pawsonality is a homebased salon, NOT A MOBILE GROOMER! However I provide a pick up and drop off service if required, at an extra fee which may vary depending on location. (Prices start from $10)

Discounts are available: For 2 or more dogs per owner. Gift Vouchers, Petway Shampoo & Conditioner & Dogi-Deli treats are available to purchase at the salon.

~ ABOUT YOUR GROOMER ~

Jorja started Dog Grooming & her own business in 2014 from home at Dunbible outside of Murwillumbah. Jorja attended a 4-week hands on course at the Victorian College of Dog Grooming where she attained her Certificate 3 in Pet Grooming. Which encouraged herself to start her own business within the Dog Grooming Industry, she has never looked back. From a very young age and growing up on her family’s farm with all types of animals big and small. She has always loved their company and being around them, especially dogs! She wanted to become involved in caring for them and to help make a difference to their lives. She has attained Certificate 2 in Animals Studies, Certificate 3 in Companion Animals and Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing. She put’s so much love and care in what she does. She is looking forward to meeting you and your pets!!

INTRODUCING YOUR NEW PUPPY TO GROOMING! 🐶🐾✂️

💜What age to start your puppy grooming with your groomer?
Here at Pets with Pawsonality I recommend starting at 12 weeks old with the trimming of Face, Feet, Hygiene Trim, Nail Clip, Bath, Blow Dry and Brush Over. Then move onto the full groom - the works - if coat is ready to do so. (Enjoy your gorgeous puppy coat for as long as possible). I recommend this process as it gets the dog familiar and build their confidence with the grooming process, the groomer and the environment being groomed in.
I charge $75 for all my puppy clips whether your puppy’s long or short haired from 12 weeks till 6 months of age, after that it will go to the appropriate price via the size of your dog.

💙How regular does your puppy need to groomed by your groomer?
Every 2 - 8 weeks depending on
- Puppy’s living environment
- You as an owner maintaining your puppy’s coat
- The coat’s growth and condition
- The breed of dog

💜What grooming can the owner do at home?
Take things slow, be patient, use a quiet tone of voice and praise with a reward, word or pat.

- BRUSHING – Brush daily or weekly depending on your dog’s breed. Starting with your hands or hand rubber brush, then slowly introducing an appropriate brush for your dog’s breed/coat as we want the process to be pleasant, soothing and relaxing which you can ask your groomer. To make the process relaxing you can do this by spreading a little bit of food on a washable surface and allow your puppy to lick it off while your bushing your puppy’s coat or even just praise your puppy with some words or pat is great as well.

- BATHING – Every 2 – 4 weeks if needed e.g. Dirty or Smelly. Use a non-slip bath mat to avoid injuries.

- BLOW DRYING – On a low speed to begin with then slowly work up to high speed. Remember to watch the heat temperature so it's not too hot.

- DESENSITISING – Touching and checking around your puppy’s eyes, mouth, ears, legs, feet and tail to get them use to the feeling of not being afraid. This is a good routine to monitor your dog’s coat, skin and health it also helps your veterinarian to check them over on their vet visit.

- NAILS – I recommend to NOT do it just in case you cut to short and make the quick bleed, it won’t be a good experience for your puppy or yourself. Leave it to your groomer or your veterinarian or UNLESS your very comfortable & experience at doing it.

❄️ 1st day of Winter! ❄️

WINTER TIPS!! ❄🐾✂️

Winter is here dog owners and here are few things to remember!
1. Coats still grow!!
2. Face, feet and hygiene areas still need to be tidied
3. Ears need cleaning
4. Nails need clipping
5. They still get dirty and need to be regularly bathed and brushed
6. If they wear jackets, their coats could tangle/matt

So remember, dogs still need grooming over the colder months! Please don't think they need their long hair over winter. They need well maintained coats over winter to stay warm and matt free!! Tangled matted hair provides NO protection or warmth for the dog, just makes them uncomfortable.

Full Grooms are kept up over winter, as dogs are clipped with longer blades ( if mum and dad can maintain the coat in between Grooms 😊 ) Some clients like short clips, so their dog can wear jackets & extra bedding of a night time and don't have to highly maintain the coat between grooms.

Tidy ups every four weeks are great for winter to keep the coat maintained focusing on face, feet and hygiene areas.

Bath & Blow dry every two- four weeks is another way to keep your dog looking and feeling good with a nice warm bath and brush to keep the coat matt and knot free.

It's becoming cooler & winter is just around the corner. ❄💙

👉🏼If you aren't a regular client (every 2,4,6,8,10,12wks)
👉🏼However if you only visit your groomer sometimes 1 to 4 times a year (which can vary on different breeds of course).

👉🏼Regular grooming is very important for your dog's coat and skin to be clean and healthy.

👉🏼APRIL and MAY are good months to get your doggies done just in time before winter. (This is for clients who aren't regulars)
- It's easier to maintain whether it be washing and brushing.
- Decreases the chance of knots and matts forming.
- Reduces unnecessary chewing, scratching at their coat.
- Drying process is quicker.
- Good for the dog's skin and coat growth.
- Your dog is comfortable and happy.
- Decreases skin problems (hot spots).
‐ Your DOG & your GROOMER will appreciate it in the long run. "A clean pet is a happy pet!" and "Always doing what's best for the animal!" - always remember these!!

👉🏼Are you afraid of your dog getting cold during the evening with a shorter coat?
- Purchase a doggy coat for your dog to wear.
- Add more blankets to there bedding.
- Add a hot water bottle to there bed to provide warmth (wrap the hot water bottle with a small towel so it won't burn the animal or even adding the hot water bottle before bed time to heat up the bed then remove it).
- Cuddle them.
- Warm up there food (can be and sometimes can't be possible).

👉🏼To be honest they are NO different to us humans. (Us humans just have to provide it for them)
- We apply more clothing when we are cold.
- We light our indoor/outdoor fireplaces.
- We put on the heater.
- We eat and drink hot food/beverages to warm up.
- We cuddle each other to keep warm.
The list goes on....

👉🏼There is nothing worse then having your groomer to remove very heavy knots and matting sometimes during and after winter. The cost of removing those knots & matting also increases the service fee.
It's very uncomfortable, painful and stressful to put your pet, your best friend through.
