Are you a hoof care practitioner (trimmer or farrier etc) in Australia (and over 18 years of age)? Please consider taking the time to fill out this extensive survey regarding your career and the challenges in providing good hoof care.

This is a one-of-a-kind survey to help shed light on an under-studied industry in the hopes of informing industry changes related to improving horse hoof health and welfare.

Welcome to the chaos 👋

If you're new here — Hi, I’m Sarah. I trim hooves, post too many dog photos, and pretend my inbox isn’t scary when it gets to 147 unread messages.

I’ve been in the hoof game for 15+ years, starting with my own horses and ending up trimming everything from backyard ponies and donkeys to seasoned performance horses. I'm fully qualified, fully insured, and fueled mostly by peanut M&Ms and caffeine.

I’m currently:
🥕 Trimming 2 - 3 days per week
🥕 Running an online store for hoof care and glue on shoeing supplies
🥕 Raising two small gremlins, commonly known as children
🥕 Wrangling a menagerie of animals
🥕 Writing a PhD about hoof care and horse welfare

If you're into consistent hoof care, low-drama booking systems (hello 5-week auto-schedule), and bad puns, we might just be a good match.

📍 Based near Yea – service areas include most of the Yarra Valley, and out to Seymour, Mansfield & surrounds.

Spots are almost all full, I only have a *very limited* number of gaps for trims only on a couple of Wednesdays and Fridays in select areas. If your horse is sweet, your shade/shelter is decent, and your desired schedule is predictable, we’ll probably get along just fine so feel free to see if we can make things align 💬

Please allow for slow replies - I really need an admin assistant but alas, its just me juggling like crazy :)

“A Step in The Right Direction”

Sarah specialises in barefoot trimming for maintenance, performance and rehabilitation. She is also proficient in alternative materials such as glue on shoes and polyurethanes for rehabilitative purposes and times when barefoot may simply not be suitable. Sarah’s passion lies in helping horses with chronic laminitis especially when due to metabolic issues. She has a Diploma of Equine Podiotherapy, Bachelor of Animal Science, Master of Animal Science and is part way through a PhD project looking at the relationships between equine hoof care and welfare at The University of Melbourne.
