Home from our last run and what a run it was!!
We had pups, dogs, pups, rain, sun, pups, breakdowns and more pups!
18 pups in total, 5 dogs and 1 cat in total made it to their destinations but not without a little drama along the way.
Apart from the first 2 days of rain all was going well, Saturday we were heading to Albury from Cooma through the Kosciuszko National Park, a beautiful area, a must visit!
It was cold in the snowy region but the drive was going so well, 8 pups and 3 dogs on board with Holly and I.
Then the heater stopped working in the van.
A little bit on as we were making our way up a mountain on a winding single lane road I smelt oil burning, looking at my gauges I then noticed the temp gauge rising before my eyes!
Thankfully very soon after I found a cut out on the edge of the mountain to stop in. The van had over heated after blowing a heater hose.
I recently, very recently had starlink added to the van for situations like this and I'm so thankful I did because I was able to get help to us fairly quickly.
NRMA came about 45 mins later to confirm the heater hose had blown and a tow was needed. The tow truck how ever, was another 2hrs away. 7 pm he turned up and got us off the mountian and into the nearest town in Tumbarumba.
We were left on the street and he kindly parked the van under a street light closer to the public toilets near a park and the pups, dogs and I settled in the van for the night. So glad I carry plenty of spare bedding and blankets on trips, they kept us all warm for the night.
Next morning my husband, my night in shining armour our rescuer arrived to assist me in getting everyone to their destinations. We were 4 hours behind but everyone arrived safe and well cared for during the ordeal.
I was offered accommodation but refused to leave my passengers alone. I stay where they stay and vice versa.
Sadly though I did have to cancel 2 clients coming back up from Melbourne to Sydney and Orange, I hate letting people down but bad no choice.
Thankyou to those for understanding though and thankyou to my passengers humans for entrusting me to keep your babies safe and your patience for our late arrival.
Sadly these things can and do happen in transport but I will always put the well being of my passengers as my 1st priority.
