We love getting updates from our clients! This is young Lenny the Doberman, who we helped introduce to his owner's workplace (a university) last week. Looks like Lenny is going very well! There are plans for him to be a therapy dog in the future and we think he will be great at it. I mean, look at that face. How can anyone not want more Lenny in their life 😍

Young Airedale Cleo, after she had calmed down during her recent consult with Melbourne based trainer Dimitri. This 7 month old was a fast learner with a lot of s***k. During this consult we focused on foundational principles like self control, trust and respect.

Struggling to get your dog to settle down and behave themselves inside the house?

Training tip!!

If your dog behaves badly indoors, we suggest you temporarily have them on a lead inside as well as using a combination of a crate, pen or being tethered until they have learned and accepted the new rules.

This should be seen as a teaching and support system, never a punishment. Don’t set your dog up to fail by first allowing them to charge inside or leaving them unsupervised to get into strife and then reacting by putting the lead on. Be proactive - put it on as they come inside so you can stay calm and certain and insist on good behaviour instead.

This way they can still be inside with you and share your company, get out of the weather, observe what’s going on and feel connected, while at the same time learning the right habits and behaviour and mostly importantly not causing havoc!

Remember, you are training your dog in every interaction. It is ultimately up to you to control your environment and territory, or your dog will.

“Rod came out to our place this morning to assist us with our one year old Golden and five year old malshy who were ruling the house. Within 10mins he had complete control. Rod has a very calmly nature which made both our dogs feel safe. He is extremely knowledgeable and keeps the training basic so that the whole family can participate. One of our most common requests is helping dogs to be calm inside the house.

Some important tips to remember are:

Calm before they enter
Invite them in calmy
No attention or affection until they are calm.
No playing or encouraging high energy inside the house.

Henry the Black German Shepherd x Golden Retreiver was a very confused young dog. The German Shepherd side of him liked to jump at and nip people. After we discussed with him that this was inappropriate begaviour he reverted to a big gentle goofy Golden Retreiver😄

Shady, the male German Shepherd, had quite serious reactive aggression toward other dogs when I first met him last year. His owners recently shared a video of him attending the Million Dollars Paws walk. What a great improvement. Well done, Ashley. Very impressive 👏
