On Thursday, our sweet 3.5-month-old Norni had a very important learning day here at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment.

It was time for her first little hoof tidy!

For such a young girl, Norni handled everything like a little superstar. She stood fairly quietly while her feet were done and took in all the new experiences with curiosity and calmness. These early lessons are so important in helping young horses learn confidence, trust, and good manners from the very beginning.

We always take things slowly, gently and positively with the babies, allowing them time to understand what is being asked. Norni made us proud and proved she is a very good little girl with a bright future ahead of her. 💕

It’s such a special part of life here at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment— watching these youngsters grow, learn, and develop into confident horses.

Well done Norni! 🌟

🐴 Barefoot Trimming Day at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment! 🐴

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming our amazing barefoot trimmer yesterday — and what a day it was ! 💪

✅ 15 horses trimmed
✅ 2 agistees attending to their horses
✅ Happy, healthy hooves
✅ Lots of cuddles, chats, and a few cheeky snacks along the way 😄

Huge thanks for the patience, professionalism, and passion that goes into every visit. Our herd (and us humans) are definitely feeling it today! 😅💤

🐴🌿 Argo’s Journey at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment 🌿🐴

When Argo first arrived at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment on 6 February 2026, he had travelled down from Queensland and had understandably lost some condition during the journey.

Since settling in, he has been placed on a tailored feeding program with consistent daily monitoring and a calm paddock routine to help support steady weight gain and overall wellbeing.

Condition improvement takes time, but we’re already seeing encouraging changes in his topline, rib coverage and hindquarter condition as he begins to respond to the routine and nutrition.

At Mount Prospect Horse Agistment, every horse is managed as an individual, with feeding and care adjusted to suit their specific needs.

It’s always rewarding to see horses begin to thrive again with the right support and environment. 🌿

“When ‘reinforced’ doesn’t last two weeks…”

Yesterday’s rug repair took me right back to the days when Leisa’s Custom Creations was in full swing behind the sewing machine.

This rug is only two weeks old, and the “reinforced” shoulder gusset seam had already come apart.

Rather than see a nearly new rug go to waste, I put it under the machine and stitched the seam properly so it should now stand up to real paddock life.

Sometimes the simplest fix can save a good rug from ending up in the bin.

Just another little job in the day-to-day life at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment. 🐎🧵

🍂 Day 1 of Autumn at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment 🍂

With the new season officially here, our autumn management plans are already in place.

Following a long, dry summer, pasture nutritional value has already declined — so selected feed programs have been reviewed and adjusted to support steady condition, particularly for our aged and more vulnerable residents.

Appropriate rugging has commenced where required, with close monitoring as temperatures begin to shift.

At Mount Prospect Horse Agistment, seasonal changes are anticipated — not reacted to.

Preparation now supports stability through winter. 🍁

Three years ago today my world stopped.

A fractured ankle.
Emergency surgery.
Plates and screws.
Three months completely non-weight bearing.

For someone who lives on her feet with horses, it was confronting.

I couldn’t just “push through.”
I had to slow down.
I had to trust others.
I had to heal properly.

That season taught me that resilience isn’t about forcing strength.
It’s about rebuilding when you’re ready.

Looking back now, I feel proud.
Not because it was easy — but because I came back stronger.

Mount Prospect Horse Agistment has grown through seasons like that. Quiet resilience. Steady care. Always returning. 💚🐴

🍂 Autumn Is Almost Here at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment 🍂

With just one week until Autumn officially begins, we’ve already started making proactive seasonal adjustments for some of our aged equine residents.

At Mount Prospect Horse Agistment, we don’t wait for weight loss or condition changes to appear — we anticipate them.

As the overnight temperatures begin to drop across Central Victoria, some of our senior and dentally challenged horses are now:
✔ Transitioning into appropriate rugging (based on age, condition and individual needs)
✔ Having their feed regimes carefully reviewed and adjusted
✔ Receiving additional fibre and calorie support where required
✔ Being monitored closely for any early seasonal changes in body condition

Autumn can be a tricky time — pasture quality begins to decline, temperatures fluctuate, and older horses can burn more energy simply staying warm. Early intervention is key to maintaining steady condition before we head into winter.

Each horse at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment is managed individually — there is no “one size fits all” approach here. Our focus remains on:
• Fibre-first nutrition
• Gentle weight maintenance or gain where required
• Warmth without over-rugging
• Close daily observation

Preparation now means stability later.

If you’re considering retirement, rehabilitation or seasonal care support for your horse, feel free to reach out.

A small improvement to make daily routines easier 🌿

Joel has built a practical hay net filling frame for use around the property — making hay prep quicker and safer.

It’s the little efficiencies that help keep things running smoothly here at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment.

We recently accommodated an interstate overnight stay at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment🌿

Safely settled in our recovery yard for a quiet, secure stopover before continuing their journey the next day.

Providing a calm, well-managed environment for travelling horses is something we’re always happy to assist with when space allows.
