I thought it was time I properly introduce myself to those who are new here 👋🐴

Hi, I’m Leisa — the person behind Mount Prospect Equine & Farm Care and Mount Prospect Horse Agistment.

Horses have been a part of my life for over 40 years, and caring for animals has always been something I genuinely love. Over the years, my experience has extended beyond horses to caring for sheep, goats, alpacas, poultry and other farm animals.

Through Mount Prospect Equine & Farm Care, I provide reliable, in-home animal care for people who need to be away for a weekend, holiday, work commitments or simply need an extra helping hand.

My aim is simple — to allow your animals to remain happy, settled and comfortable in their own familiar environment, while giving you peace of mind knowing they are being cared for by someone experienced, attentive and genuinely invested in their wellbeing.

For me, this isn’t about rushing in and out. I take the time to get to know your animals, understand their routines and notice when something isn’t quite right.

❄️🐴 Winter farm visits don’t stop because it’s cold.

This afternoon’s visit included feeding this handsome boy, checking his condition from nose to tail, and making sure he was warm, comfortable and happily enjoying his dinner.

Despite the afternoon sun, the water trough was still holding a sheet of ice — a reminder of just how cold our Central Victorian mornings have been.

We were also treated to a special visitor… a local kangaroo with her joey quietly watching on from the paddock. Moments like these are just one of the many things we love about caring for animals in the countryside. 🤎

No matter the season, every visit is about more than simply feeding. It’s about making sure every animal is safe, healthy and cared for until their owners return home.

Over 100mm of rain and the paddocks may be under water, but the animals still need feeding and checking. 🌧️🐴

🚜🐑🦙 June Farm Visits 🦙🐑🚜

During the month of June 2026, we spent 25 consecutive days carrying out our farm visits at one property, providing twice-daily care for a wonderful menagerie of animals.

With sheep, cattle, goats, alpacas, a horse and a variety of poultry to care for, no two visits were ever quite the same.

Morning and evening visits included:
🌾 Feeding out and preparing hard feeds
💧 Topping up water supplies
🚜 Delivering round bales to various paddocks
🌾 Refilling hay feeders
🛏️ Changing stable bedding
👀 Carrying out daily health and welfare checks

While feeding and watering are an important part of farm visits, the most important job is always keeping a close eye on the health and wellbeing of every animal and communicating any concerns back to their owners promptly.

Twenty-five days, twice-daily visits and countless happy faces waiting for breakfast and dinner made this one a very rewarding booking.

❄️🐑🦙 Cold winter days on the farm… 🦙🐑❄️

With the cold, wet weather continuing, today’s jobs included topping up hay and preparing hard feeds to make sure everyone stays warm, comfortable and well fed.

From our woolly sheep crew to the ever-curious alpacas, there were plenty of happy faces waiting for breakfast and dinner!

It’s the little things that make a difference during winter – extra hay, good nutrition and daily checks to ensure everyone is coping with the cold conditions.

Just another day at one of our current farm sitting bookings, caring for these beautiful animals as if they were our own. 💚

Stables cleaned, fresh straw laid down, hay topped up and quality control inspections carried out immediately by the residents.

Safe to say the lambs approved of the new bedding. 🤍
