Dental disease is not just something experienced by senior pets with younger pets showing signs.

If your pet shows signs of bad breath, discoloured teeth or excessive drooling they may be in the early stages of dental disease.

So next time you're booking your dental appointment, remember to also book your furry friend in to get theirs checked as well.

Until 30 September, get $50 off a stage 1 dental scale & polish at your local Greencross Vets clinic. T&Cs apply.

⚠️Canine leptospirosis alert for Illawarra and Shoalhaven. This serious bacterial disease can cause vomiting, diarrhoea and lethargy in dogs and can be fatal if left undiagnosed and untreated. If you live in these affected areas, then please speak to your local vet who will be able to advise you regarding vaccination for your dog. Please keep an eye on your dog and if they show these symptoms, then please call your local vet or nearest pet emergency hospital immediately.

Four dogs have died from canine leptospirosis, with two confirmed in the Southern Highlands and Shoalhaven.

The serious bacterial disease is spread by rats and contaminated water and can cause liver and kidney failure.

Some of the symptoms include vomiting or diarrhea and lethargy.

Dog owners in the Southern Highlands and South coast are being urged to have their pets vaccinated and to avoid letting them drink or swim in stagnant water.

The video then shows numerous clips of Vision Australia client, Rolf, speaking to the camera, black labrador, Seeing Eye Dog Stella, at a vet appointment and the two of them walking through a Petbarn store. The video ends on a slide that has a yellow background with a love heart cut out in the middle. Within the love heart, two Seeing Eye Dogs puppies sitting and little red love hearts rise on the screen. The bottom of the screen is white, with the Petbarn Foundation and Seeing Eye Dogs logos appearing. A 'donate now' message appears at the end.]

‼️Attention pet parents… Important information about your pet's microchip!

HomeSafe ID is a company that manages many microchip registrations - especially if your pet has been adopted from the RSPCA or Animal Welfare League (AWL). This company has now closed down, which means if your pet is registered with them you will need to change to another company to register your pets microchip details. If this is not done, clinics and local councils can no longer search your details if your pet ever goes missing.

Please be aware - Greencross Jindalee do not use HomeSafe ID, so if we have implanted your pet’s microchip, you don't need to do anything further apart from updating your contact details if these ever change.

If you're unsure which database your pet is registered to, you can find out by visiting www.petaddress.com.au and type in your pet’s microchip number. This should lead you to which company they are registered with. Please let us know if you require your pets microchip number and we can help you with this.

Global Micro Animal Registry are currently offering HomeSafe ID clients a free swap to their database if you fill out and submit this form https://bit.ly/HomesafeRe-registration

Alternatively, we recommend using the following national registries to transfer your pet’s details if they are on the Homesafe ID database for a small fee:

Central Animal Records https://car.com.au/pages/list-a-pet

Australasian Animal Registry https://www.myras.com.au/AAR/register/Registration.aspx

Please feel free to give us a call on 07 3279 2311 if you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter.
