Hello all 👋

Clipping season is coming up ever so quickly and I thought I’d post this now. Due to my ongoing health issues I will not be clipping this year.

Any messages are welcome for recommendations.

I will also be posting some second hand clippers in the coming week if anyone may be interested.

Oh look at that the most important tool in the back of my car…. A HELMET.

This is not the first time I’ve posted about this and I will preach this all fu***ng day. YOU 👏 ARE 👏 NOT 👏 INVINCIBLE 👏

The day I became complacent, looked at that helmet in the back of my car and said to myself oh I’ve clipped him before I’ll be right, was the day I landed myself in the back of an ambulance an hour later with a smashed in face.

Oh but Kayla he’s sedated…. DID YOU KNOW horses that are under sedation can snap straight out of it? Yeh that’s my leg after being kicked by a mare under sedation while clipping. A sedation I thought kept their feet on the ground.

Recent conversation with a well respected farrier in the industry also confirmed the worst he’s been kicked was by a horse under a sh*tty sedation.

Oh but Kayla HE’S QUIET….. if I’m putting myself in compromising positions to clip your horse and he gets a fright from something other than me, I’m potentially going to end up underneath your horse.

Laugh at me, judge me, call me scared. Whatever helps you justify to yourself that I’m being too cautious and it will never happen to you.

If you’re not going to put a helmet on for yourself, do it for your kids, do it for your partner, do it for your mum, do it for your dad, do it for your friends. Because at the end of the day if you’re not here they’re the ones that are going to be missing you.

EAR HAIR REMINDER | In line with the FEI Veterinary Regulations, since January 1 2025, EA General Regulations included a prohibition on removing or shortening the hair within the rims of the auricle under penalty of elimination from the event. In the introductory phase contravention of this regulation incurred a warning. From July 1 2025 it will entail elimination.

The lovely Woody 🥰

A prime example of making clipping a nice experience over the years. First ever year we opted for a chaser clip. The last two clips I’ve given him he’s been nothing but amazing. What a star 💫

Resharing because I’ve done a lot of first timers this season. If your horse is nervous or not 100% accepting of the clippers I will always highly recommend this clip if you are not willing or can’t sedate with a vet present. This is a clip I can almost always achieve within the horses comfort level without stressing them completely out and having it be an unpleasant experience for them or me. Always working with the horses temperament first is my biggest priority.

Let’s talk first clips. I always highly recommend a chaser clip as a first clip for your horse or pony. It is a great clip for young ones/ first timers and still very effective. It covers the main areas they will sweat from with light/ moderate exercise.
This beautiful mare was so well behaved for her first haircut. And everyone knows I’m a sucker for a Clydie Cross 🥰
