PLEASE get your horses vaccinated or be prepared to not have veterinary treatment for them. When your horse is sick we want to be able to treat them with the best treatment we can, as quickly as we can
Did you know more than 50% of the people who have contracted Hendra virus have died and they are all our colleagues from the vet industry. Don’t make us risk our lives and complain when you can’t get the help you need.

AAA Vet Clinic has a Hendra Policy in place to protect our patients, clients and veterinary team.
If an unvaccinated horse becomes unwell, treatment is at the veterinarian’s discretion. First aid and appropriate medications can be provided, however if further diagnostics, testing or advanced treatment are required, a Hendra exclusion may need to be completed first.
⚠️ Hendra exclusion results can take a minimum of 3 days — that’s potentially 3 days where your horse cannot receive the further treatment they may need.
Hendra virus can be fatal to both horses and humans, so keeping vaccinations current is incredibly important.
💉 Horses are considered fully protected 3 weeks after their second vaccination. The initial course consists of 3 vaccinations in the first year, followed by an annual booster to maintain protection.
