Can you lend us a helping hand? 🐨🦘🦅

Taronga's Wildlife Hospitals treat thousands of sick, injured and orphaned animals every year.

For 24 hours on Tuesday 2 June, every dollar donated to Taronga Wildlife Hospitals will be matched by a generous and long-standing supporter of Taronga, doubling the impact for sick and injured animals.

You'll be helping us treat, heal and release more animals, train the next generation of wildlife vets, nurses and carers and support our frontline responders in future bushfires, floods & droughts.

Donate and double your impact at give.taronga.org.au💚

A little grooming goes a long way.

Ring‑tailed lemurs have a unique toothcomb that works like a natural brush, helping them care for their fur and each other.

These gentle grooming sessions aren’t just adorable - they’re important moments where lemurs build rapport, trust, and harmony within their group.

Helping those who need it the most 🏥🐾

No two days are ever the same at our two Taronga Wildlife Hospitals in Sydney and Dubbo. On average, our teams treat 1,500 injured, sick or orphaned native animals each year.

This Tuesday 2 June, a generous and long-time supporter of Taronga is doubling all donations for our Wildlife Hospitals.

If you were considering donating ahead of the end of financial year - Tuesday is your day to double your impact for wildlife in need.

To donate, please head to give.taronga.org.au ❤️‍🩹

🖤💛❤️ National Reconciliation Week 2026 | All In ❤️💛🖤

As we begin National Reconciliation Week (27 May–3 June), we reflect on this year’s theme, All In, and what it means for each of us in creating a culturally safe and respectful community.

Taronga acknowledges the Cammeraigal people and the Wiradjuri people, the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we operate and continue to learn. We honour their enduring connection to Country, culture and community.

Reconciliation is shared work. It asks us to listen, learn and contribute to change in ways that are genuine, consistent and grounded in respect.

Across Taronga, our teams have continued to deepen relationships, expand cultural learning and strengthen First Nations pathways. This includes:
• Expanding cultural learning and awareness in our people
• Supporting Aboriginal student programs and pathways, including a standout year for our School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeships (SBATS)
• Hosting community and cultural programs that connect students, Elders and partners
• Strengthening conservation work guided by First Nations knowledge and collaboration

Reconciliation is not something we return to once a year it’s reflected in how we work, how we listen and how we show respect for each other and for Country.

Let’s keep learning together and stay All In.

Chimp-ly the best animal care 🏥

Last year our teams at Taronga and SASH, alongside the incredible human Gastroenterologist, Dr Cameron Bell, performed a world-class procedure on 34-year-old female Chimpanzee, Kuma, after she presented with abdominal inflammation.

Swipe through to see the massive team effort from the dedicated Taronga Veterinarians and Primate Keepers, the SASH specialist anaesthetist and radiology teams, and Dr Cameron Bell and his expertise in human digestive systems.

No stone goes unturned (or unremoved in this case) under our care!

Smeared banana might not look the most appetising but it makes for great enrichment and short work for these tiny primates 💚

Happy World Turtle Day! 🐢

Did you know Australia is home to around 23 species of freshwater turtle? At Taronga, we’re proud to care for a variety of these incredible species across our two zoos, including the critically endangered Bellinger River snapping turtle.

In 2015, more than 90% of the wild population was wiped out by a virus. Thanks to a coordinated rescue effort led by the NSW Government, and ongoing recovery work through the NSW Saving our Species Conservation Strategy, Taronga now leads a successful breeding program helping secure the species’ future.

To date, more than 300 Bellinger River snapping turtles have hatched at Taronga, with some released back into the wild and others helping grow the insurance population.

Taronga's Wildlife Hospitals also treat and care for injured freshwater turtles, with hook ingestion and car strikes among two of the most common threats these reptiles face.

This World Turtle Day, visit the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Centre and shellabrate these amazing reptiles with us.

Celebrating tree roos from every angle 💚

Tree kangaroos are arboreal marsupials, perfectly adapted to life high in the tropical rainforest canopy. With powerful limbs and long tails for balance.

You can spot Taronga’s resident Goodfellow's tree-kangaroos up in the canopy of their habitat in Nura Diya Australia… tip: look up! 👀🌿

842 environmental indicators released ⚫🟡🐸

Smashing last year's 544 frog release, a mighty army of 842 critically endangered Northern Corroboree Frogs have been released into NSW’s Brindabella National Park - the largest-ever release of this special species!

Northern Corroboree frogs need a big helping hand after chytrid fungus, extreme weather events and invasive species devastated large parts of their habitat. Our collaborative conservation efforts are helping to bolster the dwindling wild populations, estimated at fewer than 1,200 mature individuals.
