Not everyone likes fireworks 🎆🎉

Keep your pets safe and reduce their stress this New Years.

Signs of fireworks anxiety in cats and dogs:
- Panting and drooling
- Restlessness
- Hiding or trying to escape
- Vocalising
- Trembling
- Destructive behaviour
- Loss of bladder/bowel control

How to help:
- Exercise your pets before dark.
- Create a safe space for them. Let them hide if they wish and offer them comfort if they seek it.
- Make sure all doors and windows are closed and yards are secured. It is a good idea to keep your pets inside.
- Soundproof your home and use the tv or music to block out the noise.
- Distract them with toys and games.
- Stay calm and reassuring as overreacting to their anxiety can reinforce their fear.
- Avoid using punishment and/or forced exposure!
- Make sure your pets ID tags and microchip details are up to date. Pet trackers/GPS are becoming very popular to actively track lost pets.
- Use calming aids or medications if required. If you think your pet requires anxiety medication or needs a refill please contact us!

Our opening hours for the festive season are:
Christmas Eve 24/12: 7am-5pm
Christmas Day 25/12: CLOSED
Boxing Day 26/12: CLOSED
New Years Eve 31/12: 7am-5pm
New Years Day 01/01: CLOSED

Regular opening hours from Friday 02/01.

With Halloween happening, we’d like to remind everyone of some hazards that can occur during this time 🕸️✨👻

🍫 Chocolate Toxicity - toxicity depends on your dogs weight, the type of chocolate consumed, and the amount ingested. Some symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea, muscle tremors, increased heart rate, panting, and restlessness. More severe symptoms can occur if left untreated!

🍬 Xylitol Toxicity - Xylitol is a sweetener that can be found in sugar-free chocolates and lollies. It is extremely toxic for dogs!

⚠️ Glow sticks, wrappers, and small decorations pose a choking/blockage risk for pets if ingested.

📞 Contact us or an emergency vet if your pet has ingested any of the above for further advice and do not wait for symptoms to occur!

‼️‼️
- Keep all chocolates and sweets in containers and out of reach to pets.
- Create a safe space for anxious pets as foot traffic, costumes, and flashing lights can be distressing for them!
- Fake spider webs, wrappers, balloons and ribbons can quickly become death traps for wildlife.
- Never approach any dog, even if you know them. They may not recognise you in a costume!
