I'm getting a huge run of enquiries about puppies that are either older already or are still under 12 weeks but owners wanted privates because they were told either by their breeder, vet or someone else to keep them home until they've received their final vaccination. This may be as late as 16 weeks for some puppies that they've completed their three vaccinations. By that stage, that's the end of their critical socialisation period. For some pups they are already a bit shy or they may be breeds that often struggle socially and it's really concerning.
The Australian Veterinary Association strongly supports early socialisation and puppy schools and the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behaviour have a good handout about the research and their position on how crucial early socialisation is https://avsab.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Puppy_Socialization_Position_Statement_Download_-_10-3-14.pdf.

PLEASE get your puppies socialising and interacting with outside environments from 8'ish weeks if you can or whenever you get them. Just be risk averse! Don't go to dog parks or interact with unfamiliar dogs that may be unvaccinated. Stay off highly traffic soil environments as that is where parvo can be. Carry your pup if you like and stick to concrete areas or place them on a blanket when you get to where you're going. Go to puppy school! I don't run baby puppy schools but can refer to some great ones in your area if you're unsure. There seems to be a big backwards step in people staying home with puppies until they've finished their vaccination schedule but this has potentially has a very dire risk for social outcomes for your pups.

A simple training video of Ash and myself working on a wall jump. 😊

#1 I look dull and slow to try and keep him calm and focused.
#2 there is a point I put my hands slightly out and this is an invitation to jump and be caught. This is why the jumping was not corrected.
#3 this dog will do anything to please so is always watching and I have to make sure I am super clear in what I want him to do.

It is always good fun working with Ash as he learns quick and is super fast. 😁

Puppy Socials.

We are looking at a small walking social group of no more then 4 puppies.🐕

These social walks will aim to help socialise the pups with different surfaces, smells, sights and real wold experiences.🌏

This is designed to help them adapt to this world and make for stable adults. 🥳

It will help them to communicate with each other and learn to be calm around a variety of people and objects. 🛝
