There's no such thing as a cruelty free egg and no right way to do the wrong thing

❌️🥚 It’s not the farm that breaks hens, but the eggs!*

*Hens are genetically manipulated to lay far beyond what their bodies were ever meant to handle. Their wild ancestors laid 10–15 eggs per year. Today’s hens are forced to produce 250–300 annually.

This chronic overproduction is what destroys them:
🐔 weakened bones from constant calcium depletion
🐔 reproductive cancers and tumors
🐔 egg binding, organ prolapse, and internal infections
🐔 exhaustion that ends their lives far too soon

Whether it’s a cage, a free-range pasture, or even a backyard—hens suffer the same fate because the harm is built into their biology. Labels and conditions can’t erase the exploitation.

❤️‍🩹🌱 The only real change we can make is to stop demanding eggs altogether. Choosing egg-free means choosing compassion, health, and justice for hens.

With over 20 in bottom ICU (my lounge room) tonight there's a shortage of carriers, crates and makeshift containment bodge lol. So Happy Feet is spending her first night in ICU using the honour system. However, she seems to love the jumper I rolled up for her so much that I don't think she even wants to leave it :) It must feel great to support that horrible mass on something other than her legs. I even heard a little purr :)

Happy Feet, our latest penguin waddler, with only days to make it through to her surgery, has been relocated to ICU. As brave as she is she was struggling with bullies, even in a gentle pen. No, she does not have her head over her shoulder; her feet are facing the same way as her head, leaning backwards in an attempt to stay upright

People often enquire why we notify pickup details on the Thursday before. Even when notified on the Thursday, some still forget to turn up on Saturday. Friday is too late notice but very recently we caved to public pressure and trialled Wednesday notification. It was the biggest disaster, with the worst no show attendance figures that we've ever had. Accordingly, especially because we represent the victims and not the humans, notification will continue to occur on the Thursday beforehand.

Some of the girls who made the long round trip to the vets today. Those riding in the cab must have done it before because they even knew the shape of the 7/11 sandwich box; they were rewarded for their peskyness 😑😑😑

Just a reminder that when referring people to us please refer them to the page or website. Our ONLY purpose is to educate to end egg consumption; giving people our phone number "to get some chickens" without reading the educational material wastes our time and there's. Rescuing animals from egg eaters simply to give them back to egg eaters is obviously insane.

This is a rescued animal rehoming; it is not about eggs; do something nice for another being and you will discover something very special. Bring suitable boxes or carry cages (cardboard is fine but roomy enough to ensure we don't turn you down). We again are seeking good homes for some lovely ladies. Donations appreciated but not expected; good homes are what we want.

Intelligent people only; breeders, sellers of hens or eggs; any type of animal farmer, any type of animal dealer/breeder, animal or fish killers (so-called hunters or fishers) or other animal exploiters need not apply.

Some people, weirdly, ask why we give surgery to the girls who need it. Look closely at this absolute f***n hero coping with a reproductive tumour so massive that she has to hold herself upright and waddle like a penguin to stay upright! Think always, "would I want treatment if that was me?" Then, do unto others as you would have done to you or your family. She and another reproductive tumour girl have surgery appointments this Friday. We also have 16 girls at the vets this Tuesday. This week's vet bill will be several thousand dollars, which, as usual we don't have ;) To donate to our surgery fundraiser please follow this link.
