Posting for a friend if anyone’s looking for new friend

Hey Gem

We have a beautiful border Collie girl, 3years old. We are looking at rehoming her, would you know anyone that would be interested? She sits, comes to her name, she is good with other dogs (we have her with 8 other dogs of all shapes and sizes).

DM and I’ll get you in touch with a friend x

NSW has new dog breeder laws which come into effect 1 December 2025.

New laws apply to all dog breeders, including regular breeders, occasional breeders and anyone with an accidental litter.

The key changes are:
• Everyone who breeds dogs (including once off accidental litters) must have a breeder identification number or rehoming organisation number issued through the NSW Pet Registry.
If a dog becomes pregnant unexpectedly and the person in charge does not have a BIN they must apply for one either within 14 days after becoming aware of the pregnancy or 7 days after the dog gives birth, whichever comes first.
• Each female dog will be limited to 5 litters in her lifetime. No more than 3 of those litters can be born by caesarean. If a dog has had 2 caesareans, any additional pregnancy requires veterinary approval.
• A maximum of 20 non-desexed female adult dogs over 6 months of age may be kept on any premises, unless an exemption has been granted. Some exceptions apply.
• There must be at least one staff member for every 20 dogs on the premises. Staff can be owners, employees or volunteers, but they must be at least 14 years of age.
• When a dog is advertised for sale or transfer, the advertisement must include the dog’s microchip number and the seller’s breeder identification number or rehoming organisation number. Some exceptions apply.

Inspectorate and Shelter Update – RSPCA NSW In Urgent Need of Foster Carers after 206 Animals, Including 205 Guinea Pigs Surrendered from Northern Tablelands Property

On Tuesday 10 December 2024, at a property in the Northern Tablelands, a team of RSPCA NSW Inspectors, members of the NSW Police Force, NSW Fire Brigade Hazmat Unit and Glen Innes Local Council executed a search warrant, in response to animal welfare concerns.

An RSPCA NSW Veterinarian and two Animal Transport Officers were also in attendance.

A total of 206 animals - 205 guinea pigs and one kitten, were removed from the property.

All animals have been surrendered to RSPCA NSW, where they are undergoing veterinary assessment and receiving treatment as needed.

This is part of an ongoing cruelty investigation.

We are urgently calling on the community to help us with the hundreds of guinea pigs currently in our care. If you have the capacity to become a foster carer, please click here to sign up:

The decision to look for a new puppy to add to your home is such an exciting time. Unfortunately, it is sometimes the easiest part of the process, because as soon as you start to do some research you discover that there are recommendations sprouting up from everywhere and there are SO. MANY. WORDS.

All the advertising says the same things, but nothing seems consistent. So, why do we recommend avoiding Border Collies that are cross-bred with another breed? What does it really mean when we talk about 'purebred' dogs, they look like Border Collies? What's a pedigree, what actually are 'papers' and why are they important? And why is everyone always giving different information about 'registered breeders', it's confusing and how do we check that they're legit?
