The mozzies are everywhere at the moment! We now have heartworm cases locally, so if you're not sure if your pets' protection is up to date we can help. There are also some free heartworm tests available if you chose the injection option. Heartworm takes months to treat and can be costly, so prevention is better than cure!

🔬Pictured is a heartworm test that we use in dogs and cats to detect positive heartworm infections using a simple blood test.

🫀This dog was not showing any symptoms of heartworm. Fortunately, that means treatment for this dog is low risk. Dogs with more severe infections however carry a poorer prognosis.

💊 Treatment courses can last 12 months. It is a complex and costly disease to treat.

🐾 With the rise in heartworm cases in our area, it is a good time to check if your pet is up to date on heartworm prevention.
