To help protect our patients and improve our biosecurity, we kindly ask that if your bird or a bird you are rescuing is unwell, please call the clinic before bringing them in.
With Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) present in Australia, we have additional protocols in place for birds showing signs of illness. Calling ahead allows our team to:
🐦 Assess your bird’s symptoms.
🩺 Advise you on the safest next steps.
🦠 Prepare appropriate infection control measures if needed.
Signs your bird may be unwell include:
• Lethargy or incoordination
• Difficulty breathing
• Loss of appetite
• Sudden drop in egg production
• Swelling around the head or eyes
• Diarrhoea
• Sudden death
📞 Please don’t just walk in with a sick bird. A quick phone call helps us provide the best care while protecting all of our patients.
