I am writing today to inform you all of some very distressing posts and allegations that have been made against me and my breeding ethics by a person that obtained a kitten from me a week ago. At the time this kitten wad desexed I requested that my vet check her out as I was concerned about her gait and it looked as though she was cow hocked (splayed rear legs). We also discussed the kink on her base of her tail and she also felt that would not be an issue for her. When I collected her they advised that they thought there would mot be any issues and that she would be ok to place in a pet home. At no time did they say they felt an xray or further investigation would be required My vets will not desex a kitten under a kilo and that is the same rule for all vets. I acted on my vets advice and so when I was contacted for a kitten I disclosed the kink and offered her at a greatly reduced price of $750. I felt at the time this was very fair not expecting any further issues.
I have been accused of not disclosing her health issues, which I couldn't as I had no knowledge of. That I am trying to pass blame to my vets (which I am not) She was a happy kitty playing with all the others here racing up the scratching posts and mine is very high and so outwardly there was no cause for concern.
When I was contacted after the visit with her vet I asked for her to be returned as soon as I was home. I refunded her fully paid the vet account fully and she also kept the kitty pack I sent her. I am extremely generous in what I give out as many of my pet owners know it is a lot valued at $150. She has kept that and now expects me to offer her compensation as well. I am not going to be doing this especially after what I have seen that she has done to me today. She contacted my registration body and was told that she no longer owns the kitten and I have met any obligations that they would expect. She has also reported me to the RSPCA and posted where ever she can to discredit me. This in itself is distressing as I care for every kitten Ibred as important as the next one. I have been breeding a very long time and in all those years have never seen a kitten with this problem so would I be experienced in being able to know what this was I dont think so. As breeders we deal with many issues raising kittens is not an easy job and we face many issues with all that is involved in raising healthy well adjusted happy kittens so that the new family has a well raised kitten.
I would hope that any owner of any of my kittens would agree that my care is obvious and would never do anything intentionally. Also to all the prospective people that may have contacted me for a kitten please be assured that I do put my all into raising healthy well adjusted babies.
