Today is a very sad day at MVG as we say a final farewell to Miss Nicky Barrett. Nicky has been with us for nearly 2 years in our head of nursing role and she has been an incredible addition to our team, that we are going to dearly miss. 😢

Nicky always brings a great attitude every day and is always ready to help in any situation. She has been a great mentor to our junior staff members and she's going to be hard to replace.

We wish Nicky and George all the best for their next adventure and look forward to catching up with them again soon! 🥰

Our next Equine Gastroscoping day for 2025 is booked for the 30th of April in Mundubbera at the Showgrounds.

We have the ability to video each session and if you bring along a USB we can make your video available for you. These videos also help the vets compare your horses ulcers at your follow-up appointment in 4-6 week's time, to determine if a longer treatment course is needed.

This month Dr Stacey & Mat will be running a webinar on Bovine early age pregnancy diagnosis and the benefits that come with it.

Early pregnancy testing will provide you with the ability to:
◾️ Accurately calculate your conception rates per paddock
◾️ Cull empty unproductive cows early
◾️ Make decisions on early weaning if required
◾️ Segregate your cows into gestational mobs for ease of calving monitoring
◾️ Accurately assess body condition score and identify any nutritional deficiencies ◾️ Accurately assess foetal loses which may indicate underlying disease problems e.g. BVDV
◾️ Identify bull reproduction problems

We are coming into bovine castrations and branding season? Are you currently using pain relief while doing so? If not, then why not consider starting this year.

There are so many great products on the market however our vets strongly recommend Meloxicam injectable which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
A single dose of Meloxicam by subcutaneous injection, 10 minutes before the procedure last for 24-72 hours of pain relief.

Kennel cough, also known as canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD) or infectious tracheobronchitis, is a highly contagious respiratory disease in dogs. Dogs can develop kennel cough approximately two to 14 days after exposure. 🐶😷

If your dog has ever contracted kennel cough, then this video would sound very familiar to you.

Kennel cough can cause mild symptoms in some dogs, but it can progress to life-threatening pneumonia in others. Because of this, it’s important to recognize the symptoms of kennel cough.

Signs of Kennel cough can include:
🔵 Strong cough, often with a “honking” sound
🔵 Runny nose
🔵 Sneezing
🔵 Lethargy
🔵 Retching
🔵 Tracheal Sensitivity

📣🐴 Queensland Itch/Sweet Itch in Horses 🐴📣

There is a new topical therapy on the market for the reduction of lesions and pruritus associated with equine Culicoides spp. bite hypersensitivity (Queensland itch/sweet itch) in horses.
