To our loyal followers we are writing to you as we’ve just come out of a committee meeting and decided that we have no option but to launch an urgent fundraiser to clear our vet bills that are seriously out of control. We never imagined that we would have had such a busy start to the year and we need to urgently do something about this. Especially before the end of the month.
I’m hoping at least 12 of you can kickstart our urgent appeal to clear our vet bills by clicking here: https://rescue-cats-safe-haven.mygiveeasy.com/help-us-in-our-time-of-need/donatenow
Let me tell you more. Over the last month, we’ve had 22 desexing surgeries, dentals, yearly health checks, kitten vaccinations, microchipping, and blood tests. It has been mentally and physically draining. Such a busy start to the year.
We’ve also had a number of emergency cases which has significantly impacted our finances. Sadly the reality is it’s reached the stage where we’ve had to say no to so many cats and kittens which keeps us awake at night.
I wanted to tell you about Little Romeo. ... Little Romeo came into our care late Thursday morning last week after being found in the mouth of a German Shepherd by the dogs owner. Whilst there were no obvious signs of injury from the dog, he was extremely emaciated, dehydrated and anaemic from the many ticks that we found on his frail little body.
The dog’s owner also advised that his neighbours had trapped an adult black cat a few weeks prior, so it could be assumed that perhaps this was Romeo’s mum and would explain why he was so emaciated…he was just too young to be left on his own and he really wouldn’t have survived much longer if not being found by the dog who brought him to his owner. We rushed him to our vet, where he spent the entire day on intravenous fluids and many ticks were removed from his little body in the hopes that this would quickly help with his anaemia.
He came back to us that night for lots of tender loving care, however this was a very sleepless night for us all as he just didn’t want to eat and with his weight at 900 grams which was significantly less than he should be.
He was looking a little better overnight but still really wasn’t eating and given the long weekend was approaching, on Friday morning he went back for more fluids and we hoped to get some blood out of his little veins for testing so we could try and determine why such a starving kitten wasn’t really wanting to eat. The blood tests upsettingly showed all the signs of him being starved.
This is what we do on a daily basis. Every second counts in these situations. Saving lives, kittens and cats in their darkest hours.
Tonight, we are putting it all on the line. We just need to. We have no choice. We need to raise at least $15,000 to clear our vet bills and get us back on some sort of level footing before the end of the month.
We need to be able to say YES again when we get calls for help like precious Romeo. We are completely reliant on your help. We need you right now.
Just $5 from each and every one of you would get us to our goal. It’s the cost of your next cup of coffee but one that will help us clear our vet bills tonight.
If you can please write the word DONE below after you have donated and please please share this post far and wide. Animals in deep distress like Romeo need our help more than ever. We need to be there for them in their time of need.
Much love and thanks for helping ###
