WE NEED CAT BLOOD DONORS 🚨

We are currently experiencing a high demand for cat blood at VSOS, and we urgently need more feline blood donors to help us provide life-saving treatment to cats in need.

Right now, we are particularly looking for Blood Type B cats. Blood type can be determined with a quick and simple blood test as part of the screening process.

Could your cat be a donor? 🐱

We are looking for cats who are:
🐾 1–7 years old
🐾 Over 4kg lean body weight
🐾 Healthy with no known medical conditions
🐾 Not currently taking medications
🐾 Have never received a blood transfusion
🐾 Not a brachycephalic breed
🐾 Have never travelled outside Australia
🐾 Up to date with vaccinations and parasite prevention
🐾 Preferably indoor only

If your cat meets the criteria, please contact the VSOS team ASAP to arrange a screening and find out if they could become a feline blood donor.

One donation could help save another cat’s life. ❤️

VSOS SURGERY GUARANTEE 🚨

For every TPLO performed in-hospital at VSOS, we offer a 12-month surgical guarantee. If a complication arises within that period, we cover all associated professional fees, including consultations, anaesthesia and revision surgery at no additional cost, provided your pet remains in good health and post-operative care instructions have been followed.

Our current fixed-price TPLO package is $6,450 and includes our 12-month TPLO Surgical Guarantee. Should a surgery-related complication occur within 12 months, VSOS will cover all professional fees associated with consultations, anaesthesia and revision surgery, provided your little one remains in good general health and post-operative instructions have been followed. This guarantee applies to TPLO procedures performed at our main VSOS hospital and is not available for mobile surgery procedures.

Dr Rob Adams, Orthopaedic Surgeon at VSOS, explains:
"While no surgery is ever entirely risk-free, our complication rate is exceptionally low. This guarantee reflects our confidence in the quality of care we deliver and gives clients the reassurance that we will support them through any post-surgical challenges."

He adds:
"With our comprehensive, fixed-price TPLO package, we aim to give pet owners not only clinical excellence but also peace of mind during a difficult and emotional time. As far as we know, VSOS is the only clinic in Australia offering this level of surgical assurance."

Please note, this guarantee applies exclusively to surgeries performed at our main VSOS hospital and does not extend to mobile TPLO procedures conducted at partner clinics.

If your pet has been diagnosed with a cruciate injury, get in touch with our Surgery team to discuss your options and find out more about our TPLO package.

VSOS X NSW POLICE ANNUAL BLOOD DONATION DRIVE 🤍

In memory of Zoran, a beloved NSW Police dog, we're proud to have partnered with NSW Police for a very special cause.

Each year, a team of NSW Police dogs will visit VSOS to donate blood in Zoran's honour, helping give other animals the same second chance he was given during his life of service.

Blood donation saves lives every single day. Just like humans, dogs and cats can need blood transfusions after trauma, surgery, or when battling serious illness. Every donation from a healthy pet can help save the life of another, sometimes more than one.

You can help continue Zoran's legacy. If your dog or cat is happy, healthy, and meets our donor criteria, they could become a lifesaving VSOS blood donor too.

Visit our website to fill out a quick form and find out if your pet is eligible: https://vist.ly/5g5q8

Every donor makes a difference. 🐾

Ever wondered what it actually takes to get a pet through a total hip replacement?

Today we're taking you behind the scenes at VSOS for a look at just how many hands (and brains) go into one surgery. From our specialist surgeons and anaesthesia team to theatre nurses and imaging support, every total hip replacement is a true team effort.

A total hip replacement involves removing the damaged hip joint and replacing it with an artificial one, much like the procedure performed in humans. It's most commonly recommended for pets with severe hip dysplasia, arthritis or injury, where the joint is causing ongoing pain and affecting mobility. For many patients, it means a return to a comfortable, active life without the chronic pain they'd otherwise be living with.

It's a complex procedure, but that's exactly why our multidisciplinary team approach matters. Every pet gets the combined expertise of specialists working together for the best possible outcome.

If your pet is struggling with hip pain or mobility issues, get in touch with our Surgery team for a consult. We're here to answer any questions you have.
