🐎 07 June Rally 🐎

⭐️ Trail Ride Rally ⭐️

Today we had 6 riders head out and brave the wilderness on our trail ride!

A huge thank you to the landowner for allowing us access to their property and giving us the opportunity to enjoy such a fantastic ride.

Everyone had a great day, with plenty of smiles, adventure, and miles covered.

Thank you to everyone who attended today and helped make it a great day!

❌ Please note that our rally for the 21st June has been cancelled.

❌ Due to the NSW Pony Club Zone 21 camp on the 5th July , our normal rally will be also cancelled.

πŸ“† Next rally is 19th July back at the LPC grounds.

See you all then! πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

You ask your horse to move forward, but they plant their feet.

You ask for canter, and they rush, pigroot or pin their ears.

You ask them to stand quietly, but they paw, call out, fidget or pull back.

It can be easy in those moments to say the horse is being naughty, lazy or stubborn. But unwanted behaviour is information. Labelling a horse as naughty, lazy or stubborn can stop us from understanding the cause.

The Pony Club Australia Horse Welfare Policy is clear that using terms like naughty, lazy or stubborn to describe unwanted behaviour demonstrates a lack of understanding.

That does not mean people are trying to do the wrong thing. These words are common in horse communities, and many of us have heard them used for years. But they can lead us down the wrong path.

When we call a horse stubborn, we may stop asking whether the horse is confused, worried, uncomfortable, in pain, tired, overwhelmed, or responding to unclear aids.

The Policy reminds us that horses need clear and consistent aids, and consistent expectations for their behaviour. When aids are unclear, or expectations change from one day to the next, the horse’s world can become confusing and worrying.

Good horsemanship means looking deeper. Before we label the horse, we need to ask:

❓ What is the horse trying to tell us?

❓ What part might our timing, pressure, training, handling or environment be playing?

❓ How can we make the right behaviour easier for the horse to understand?

Understanding the cause helps us support the horse, improve safety, and build better partnerships.

πŸ¦‹ 17 May Rally - Do it for Dolly Rally πŸ¦‹

Today’s rally we raised awareness around su***de and bullying in honour of β€œDo it for Dolly” Day. Leeton Pony Club tries to pride ourselves on being an open and welcoming club for all to attended. We want our riders to feel that this is a safe place for them to come and ride with other horse enthusiasts.

A shout out to our members who baked or provided something blue for our canteen 🀀 and a special shout out to our member Rosie who went around to our ponies and painted beautiful blue, glittery butterfly on them supporting our 'Do it for Dolly' rally! πŸ‘πŸ» πŸ¦‹

Today, though wet and cold, it didn’t stop us from riding. 🌧️ This rally wasn’t like most of our rallies as we had 2 in training instructors come to practice their lessons with our riders, this was to help them with their practical assessments next month over in Wagga. Thankyou to our riders for their support and all the best for the instructors next month!!! πŸ‘πŸ»

With our 3 current instructors we were able to split the group up into 3 to make each lesson a manageable size for the training instructors. 2 groups went over the road and the other group stayed back. Each group learnt new skills and played a few games towards the end to keep the day light and fun!

We also welcomed some new members and students from Yanco Agricultural High School! Welcome welcome! πŸ€— we hope you enjoyed your first rally with us and hope to see you again! πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

Our rally did finish up at lunch, as the rain become heavier, but all in all a fantastic rally all round! At lunch we had Equissage NSW - Holly visit for a lunch a learn with our riders!

Our next rally is 7th June (June Long Weekend), with enough interest we will be looking at doing a trail ride in the Brobenah Hills. RSVP to our CI Megan is essential via our fb page, the event or direct to Megan.

See you all then!! πŸ‘‹πŸΌ
