When death takes me first

If I die while my dog is alive, please let me see him one more time. Let him place his nose upon my motionless hand, let him direct his song of lament upon my silent breast. He deserves to understand.

Dogs know death. They mourn. Yet to disappear without a trace? That would be cruel. That would be a betrayal. Confusion would haunt him - he would wait, search, wonder why I never come home.

I know that pain of being left behind. I could not bear the heart to add this suffering to the soul that loved me the most. Let my death be understandable to him so that his love can find peace.

One last loving request: Let him know that I would have never voluntarily left him.
