Sadly Dyso has crossed the 🌈 bridge.
Sweetest boy you could ever meet.
Loved strolling the streets, ball play at the park, nibbling on fruits, stick searches & couch cuddles.
Didn’t have a care in the world for others while out exploring.
Loved sleeping on my pillow & always right beside under the cover.
Will miss you buddy 🧡
Watch over Mum & ya sister.
Lots of love & thoughts for his family ###

🌡️ Heat Stroke: A Serious and Often Fatal Emergency 🌡️

Over the past two weeks, our Noosa clinic has treated several cases of heat stroke. Tragically, not all pets have survived.

Heat stroke can develop rapidly, particularly in hot and humid conditions. In humid climates, pets are unable to cool themselves effectively through panting because moisture in the air prevents heat from dissipating. Even short walks, playtime, or being outdoors for brief periods can become dangerous.

🐾 High-risk situations include:
• Walking during the heat of the day
• Exercise on hot or humid days
• Poor ventilation or shade
• Brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds
• Elderly pets, overweight pets, and those with underlying health conditions

⏰ Please avoid walking your dog after 9am and before 5pm, especially on warm or humid days. Early mornings and late evenings are safest.

🚨 Signs of heat stroke may include:
• Excessive panting or drooling
• Lethargy or collapse
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Disorientation or seizures

Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If you suspect your pet is overheating, seek veterinary care immediately.

INCLUDE YOUR PETS IN YOUR FIRE PLAN!

With the year being a lot drier than usual, we are all a little worried about what is to come over the summer. Whilst life is a little quieter, now is the perfect time to review your own fire plan and make sure that your pets are included!

CFA (Country Fire Authority) have put together some information to help you plan for fire emergencies and how to include your pets in your plan. Some of their advice includes:

❗️Consider where you will take your pet, if no options with family and friends, have the numbers of local kennels, catteries and pony clubs written down and ready to call.

❗️Create an emergency kit for your pet including non-perishable food, plenty of water, a back-up collar and lead, medications, bedding and a cage/ carrier for transport.

❗️Ensure your pet’s microchip details are up to date, ensure you have a recent, clear photo of your pet.

❗️Have a first aid kit specifically for pets ready to go in the car.

Plan Ahead and include your pets in your family’s emergency fire plan, visit https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/before-and-during-a-fire/pets-and-bushfires to view the full list of recommendations and resources to help.
