Titer testing is the one thing that the veterinary industry should do, but usually doesn't. I KNOW that titer testing saves lives, and prevents vaccine injuries (triggering of allergies, autoimmune disease, immune system dysregulation, a range of chronic diseases, up to and including death from things like Immune Mediated Haemolytic Anemia).

It's a simple blood test that measure the levels of antibodies in the blood. If your pet still has enough antibodies, revaccination does NOTHING but expose your pet to the risk of harm.

If your pets have adequate antibodies, then those antibodies interfere with the vaccine. So these so-called 'boosters' do nothing to increase your pet's level of protection a lot of the time.

WHY?

Because the core vaccines (C3 for dogs, F3 for cats) give a LONG-LASTING IMMUNITY of at least 5-7 years, and often a whole lot longer. Sometimes lifelong!

One problem is that a lot of vets send their titer tests out to external labs, which makes them VERY expensive. I use an in-house test kit. It makes it affordable. Any vet hospital can stock and use these kits.

So it's YOUR JOB to advocate for your pets and ask your vets to get the Biogal Vaccicheck in-house test kits in, so they can give you affordable titer testing, in-house.

If your vets are not open to this, just KEEP ON ASKING - the more that everyone who loves their pets asks their vets to make these tests affordable and accessible, the better!

I'm not anti-vax. They work. They protect from these deadly diseases. There is undeniable, robust, repeated evidence that proves this. I've seen too many dogs die from parvo to not know that vaccines can save lives. And yes, there are alternatives - message me if you want to know more about that!

The bottom line is that you should ALWAYS titer before revaccinating for the core (C3 + F3) vaccines. No ifs, no buts. I wish this was taught at vet schools, and an industry-wide standard!

Have you ever titer tested your dogs? What were the results? How long did their immunity last after vaccination? How has your vet responded to requests? What do they charge? Love to hear from you in the chat.

Mold in Pet Food: A Hidden Danger

Pet food manufacturers worldwide are facing a growing challenge—controlling mold contamination in both dry and canned foods. This issue has led to numerous lawsuits linked to pet illnesses and deaths.

One of the most dangerous mold byproducts is aflatoxin, a potent fungal toxin. When pets consume food with unsafe levels of aflatoxins, they are at high risk for poisoning. These toxins can damage vital organs, suppress the immune system, and have even been linked to an increased risk of liver cancer.

A Natural Defense: Carrots 🥕

An easy and natural way to support your pet’s defense against aflatoxins is by incorporating apiaceous vegetables, such as carrots, into their diet. Carrots contain unique compounds called polyacetylenes, which help detoxify harmful substances—including aflatoxins.

While completely eliminating aflatoxins from a dog’s system can be challenging, carrots can support your pet’s metabolism and help process and neutralize these toxins more effectively.

💡 How to Serve Carrots to Dogs:

Serve raw or cooked.

Use as training treats or mince and mix into meals.

Chop into bite-sized pieces suitable for your dog’s size.

Don’t discard the green tops—they’re rich in antioxidants and nutrients and safe to feed in moderation.

Protecting your pet starts with smart choices. Adding carrots to their diet is a simple yet powerful way to boost their health and resilience.

Lastly, it's a misconception that carrots are high in sugar. A medium raw carrot contains only 5.8 grams of carbohydrate. Making it non-starchy.

Glycemic Index measures how much some foods and drinks raise your blood sugar levels. It runs on a scale of 1 to 100. A score of 100 means the food has the same effect on your body as eating a type of sugar called glucose.

The lower the glycemic index (GI), the slower your blood sugar rises. Raw carrots have a GI of 16. The GI for boiled carrots ranges from 32 to 49. That puts carrots in the low glycemic food group:

Low glycemic index: 1-55
Medium glycemic index: 56-69
High glycemic index: 70 or higher

Here's a fun little fact about our furry pals: while dogs can devour just about anything, there are certain foods that can turn them from happy pups into not-so-happy campers! 🚫🍫

Take grapes, for instance. You might think they're a healthy snack, but they're actually a big no-no for dogs. Just a handful can lead to kidney failure! 😱 And don’t get me started on chocolate—because, let’s be real, if dogs could have a sweet tooth, chocolate would be their first choice! 🍫 But it’s a serious danger.

Xylitol, often found in sugar-free gum and some peanut butter, is another sneaky ingredient that can wreak havoc on a dog’s health. It drops their blood sugar and can lead to liver failure! Yikes!

So, next time you're enjoying a snack, remember to keep those toxic foods away from your pup. They may give you those puppy-dog eyes, but trust me, it’s better to stick to doggie treats. 🥳🍖 Let’s keep our furry friends safe and sound!

NO UNWANTED LITTERS, we all agree with that goal; it's the surgical technique that should be reevaluated. Hysterectomy and vasectomy can be performed as early as 8 weeks of age with no negative side effects, rendering dogs sterile AND hormonally balanced.

"Early studies suggested that intact dogs displayed more problematic behaviors, and neutering was thought to improve certain behaviors, such as roaming, mounting, urinary marking, and intermale aggression [48,49,50,51]. These early conclusions likely contributed to the widespread belief that neutering is a reliable solution for unwanted behaviors. However, more recent studies have raised concerns about the potential for neutering to increase fear, anxiety, and aggression-related behaviors in both male and female dogs. Neutered dogs have been reported to exhibit more fear, nervousness, panic, social withdrawal, and even heightened aggression [44,52,53,54,55,56,57]. Therefore, caution must be exercised when considering neutering as a solution for behavioral issues.
Studies have reported higher risks for developing reproductive, urinary, metabolic, and musculoskeletal disorders in neutered dogs. Additionally, some studies suggest increases in stress, fear, anxiety, and even certain types of aggression following neutering.

The decision to neuter pet dogs remains a significant and ongoing debate from ethical, animal health, and animal welfare perspectives. Millions of dogs worldwide are considered integral family members, and their behavior, as well as the bond they form with their owners, play a key role in the decision to keep them as pets. When behavioral problems arise, neutering is often viewed as a potential solution. However, by removing the source of s*xual hormones, neutering creates the potential for both beneficial and harmful effects on a dog’s health and behavior."

Des*xing pets may be necessary for a whole range of reasons - to stop unwanted puppies, because of behaviours, because they need to be rehomed from a rescue org, because of health issues like enlarged prostates or pyometra (uterine infections).

Generally, the later you can des*x, the fewer problems you'll have afterwards. If you can ait to 2-3 years of age, that's ideal. Never des*x before 6 months if you can possibly help it.

Des*xing takes away all of the s*x hormones. And as I posted about last week, those hormones are critically important fot health, vitality, and longevity.

Des*xed dogs can develop issues - especially females, who quite often end up with urinary incontinence after des*xing. They have low estrogen and progesterone.

Male dogs can lose vitality and get fat. They have low testosterone levels.

But the BIGGEST problem (in both male and female des*xed dogs is that they then have very high levels of LEUTENISING HORMONE - which then causes ongoing inflammation, lameness, organ disease, and cancer in genetically predisposed dogs!

This is because the feedback loop is all messed up when the go**ds are removed, and no longer produce s*x hormones. And LH just goes sky high!

There is a treatment to reverse this.

Suprelorin, a special hormonal implant, along with supplementation of the appropriate s*x hormones (estrogen for girls, testosterone for boys) is curative of the des*xing syndrome that causes so many health issues in so many dogs! You should test LH levels first, but they are drastically elevated in almost all des*xed dogs.

If you need help with this kind of thing, please message me!

And let me know in the chat - had you ever heard of any of this?

DO YOU KNOW WHAT SIGNS OF HARMFUL REACTIONS😿🚑 TO WATCH FOR WHEN USING FLEA & TICK CHEMICALS ON YOUR PET?💊💦

As warmer weather approaches,☀️ it’s time to start thinking about protecting your pet from fleas, ticks, and even heartworm.🦟 When pet owners reach for those flea and tick treatments—whether chewables, spot-ons, or other parasiticide products—many don’t realize that adverse reactions can occur.

That’s why it’s crucial to know the signs and symptoms to look for so you can report any concerns to your veterinarian promptly.
The challenge is that different flea and tick treatments use various chemicals, each with its own potential side effects. For example, isoxazoline, a common insecticide, is highly lipophilic and easily absorbed by the body. It’s been known to cause a range of reactions, including seizures, behavior changes, gastrointestinal issues, and more.

These type of reactions can even happen in humans if ingested as a 2-year-old boy (12 kg), the son of a veterinarian, ingested two chewable tablets💊 and developed an unsteady gait🫨 approximately 50 minutes later. By 2 hours after ingestion, he had ataxia, tremor, confusion and hallucinations. He was sedated with midazolam, and 10 hours after ingestion was only minimally ataxic.

According to a recent study published in Vet Record, “The true incidence of neurological adverse effects from isoxazolines remains unclear. The delay between the administration and onset of signs can be long, and the association may be missed. A lack of timing information in the summary of product characteristics could also contribute to missed attribution of adverse effects.”

This Sunday on the Inside Scoop, we’re kicking off a Flea & Tick Prevention Series with must-know tips on both chemical and natural prevention options. Whether you’re looking for safer chemical solutions or effective natural remedies, our experts will guide you in making the best choices for your pet’s health.
