A cracking Red Bellied Black Snake on the 1st North on Saturday afternoon ( Photo taken & sent to me by one of my fellow golfing members)
These guys are 1 of the Big 4 Elapids that we get here on the Mornington Peninsula. The other 2 and more predominant being Copperheads & Tiger Snakes. The other being the Eastern Brown Snake which does not occur in this area . However, they can be found further down the Peninsula around the Fingal/Rye area.

A wee Copperhead that had been hanging in & around the bridge over the feature creek for the last 2-3 weeks safely removed & relocated not too far away 🐍😎 - 0428 103 005

Nice decent sized Tiger snake at my home away from home yesterday. Also 2 Copperheads in a Bangholme Nursery shortly after. Although locally, snakes sightings have been happening since mid/late August, September’s weather so far has been pretty ordinary. Yesterday the temp reached 23 degrees & the wriggly’s were on the move !

Juvenile Tiger Snake removed from the school yard & released back into the dense scrub along the edge of the Yarra River just a few hundred metres away . The Staff at the school have a very cool attitude towards snakes as they are often sighted in the school grounds & the students are well aware. This one was hiding between a downpipe & a retaining wall right near the office door so they decided it best to move this one on .

This little Copperhead found its way into the outdoor Kitchen facility at PK & took refuge for 3 days . This was 2 weeks ago during a period of very hot weather so it was probably more than happy to cool off on the cold concrete floor. It found itself a lovely little hiding spot underneath the cooking facilities where it would continuously poke its head out , waiting for the right opportunity to venture back outside. After being called out to relocate it on the Friday without success, I finally managed to get it on the Sunday afternoon ( as I had just finished a round myself) & noticed another golfer looking through the glass door 👌

An unfortunate end for this big tiger snake in Mount Martha( Victoria ) on the edge of Nepean Highway 😞
Snakes head had been run over .
Moved out of the bike lane & into nearby bushland .
Don’t normally post pictures of dead snakes on my page but this one almost looks like it hasn’t been injured at all.
