Slice the leather with a flat knife. Sharpen the blade on a polishing wheel. Heat the edge creaser over an open flame. Saddle stitch through burgundy hide with waxed thread. Bevel the edges by hand.

Every tool in this video is used on every single collar and leash we make. There's no shortcut. No machine that does it all in one pass. Just a workbench, hand tools, and the same process repeated hundreds of times until the muscle memory is automatic.

This is what "handmade" actually looks like. Not a marketing label slapped on factory goods. Actual hands making actual gear, one piece at a time in Melbourne.

How a PK9 leather dog collar starts. From a full hide to a finished strap.

Unroll the leather. Cut a strip with a flat knife. Run it through a strap cutter for a perfectly even width. Trim the ends square. Bevel the sharp edges with a hand tool. Heat the creasing iron over an alcohol lamp. Press a clean decorative line along the edge.

Seven steps before we even start punching holes or stitching hardware. This is what goes into a collar before it looks like a collar.

Most brands skip all of this. They die-cut pre-thinned leather on a machine and call it handmade. We start from raw material and shape every piece by hand in our Melbourne workshop.

How we set genuine Swarovski crystals into a PK9 leather dog collar. One at a time.

Punch the holes with a mallet and chisel. Bevel the edges by hand. Drop the Swarovski crystals in place. Set each one with an press so they never pop out. Heat the edge creaser over an open flame. Press a clean decorative line along both sides.

Every crystal is pressed individually. Not glued. Not snapped in with a plastic backing. Mechanically set into the hide with a cast iron press so they stay put through years of wear, rain, and rough play.

Most studded collars use cheap acrylic gems that cloud over and fall out within weeks. Ours use genuine Swarovski crystals set permanently into full-grain leather that only gets better with age.
