🐾 Meet Chester, our beloved clinic cat at Thornbury Vet Hospital! 🐱💙

Chester’s journey to us was a little bumpy. After being rehomed twice, his third family sadly had to surrender him due to severe allergies. At around 3–4 years old, Chester arrived at our clinic and it didn’t take long for us to realise he was something special. Confident, affectionate, and completely unfazed by dogs, Chester had all the makings of a perfect clinic cat… so we gave him a forever home right here with us. 🏥💕

Now 14 years old, Chester is a cherished part of our team. Earlier this year, he gave us a little scare with intermittent vomiting and weight loss. Blood tests didn’t reveal much, so we moved to an abdominal ultrasound. Thankfully, the results showed chronic inflammatory bowel disease and nothing more sinister. He’s now on a special hydrolysed protein diet and doing beautifully! 💛

Chester receives the same gold-standard care we give every patient who walks through our doors and then some! He brings us joy every single day, and we feel so lucky to have him as part of our clinic family. 🐾✨

🐾 Meet Smokey – our brave little superstar! 🌟

Smokey was recently treated for hyperthyroidism, a common condition in older cats, with radioactive iodine therapy 🧪. This advanced treatment targets the overactive thyroid tissue, helping restore balance without the need for ongoing medication 💊

Hyperthyroidism can cause weight loss, increased appetite, and restlessness in cats. Smokey still requires a few more blood tests to ensure his thyroid levels remain optimum 💉

As a team at the Thornbury Veterinary Hospital we help save animals lives and enable them to live happier, better quality and longer lives. We help people who love their pets in what can often be a stressful time for them. We feel so lucky to be able to do what we do. To us, it’s not just a job, it’s an ongoing commitment and dedication to your best friend, in whatever way you need us. We treat your pets like our own because we care and know how much they mean to you, just like our pets mean the world to us too.

Long-term colleagues, Dr Ash and Dr Seina opened the privately owned and operated clinic in 2012 and have more than 40 years combined experience. They are joined by a passionate team of experienced Vets and Nurses, who all have their own furry friends support them. We all have different stories as to why we worked so hard to get into the veterinary industry, but essentially for everyone, it all boils down to the simple fact that we love caring for animals and the people that love them.
