๐๐พ Fleas, Ticks & Parasites: Still a Risk This Autumn
As the weather cools, itโs easy to think parasite season is over, but thatโs not the case ๐ Fleas, ticks and other parasites are still active in autumn, especially after a warm summer. In fact, flea populations can peak at this time of year.
โ ๏ธ What to watch for:
โข Excessive scratching or biting at the skin
โข Hair loss or irritated patches
โข Small black specks (flea dirt) in the coat
โข Lethargy or unusual behaviour (in tick-prone areas)
๐จ Why it matters:
Parasites arenโt just uncomfortable, they can cause:
โข Skin infections
โข Allergic reactions
โข Serious illness (especially from ticks)
โ
How to protect your dog:
โข Continue regular flea & tick prevention
โข Check your dog after walks (especially bush or long grass)
โข Wash bedding regularly
โข Keep lawns and outdoor areas well maintained
Stopping prevention too early can leave your dog exposed when the risk is still high. Stay consistent, stay protected ๐ถ๐ก๏ธ
