$39,000 raised for Pets In The Park — what an incredible result!

A heartfelt thank you to the organisers of the Commentators Club Luncheon and everyone who helped make this year's pre-AFL Grand Final event such an outstanding success.

With AFL personalities David King and Scott Pendlebury, plenty of laughs, surprise appearances and a performance by Things of Stone and Wood, it was a memorable afternoon of entertainment, generosity and community spirit.

And the real winners? Melbourne's grassroots charities!

Alongside the incredible $39,000 raised for Pets In The Park, a further $10,000 was donated to Fight MND, thanks to Compnow.

For Pets In The Park, these funds will directly support our Central Melbourne, St Kilda and Frankston clinics, helping our veterinary volunteers provide free, essential care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness.

Our co-founder, Dr Mark Westman, was honoured to attend as guest speaker, highlighting the vital role pets play in providing companionship, emotional support and stability.

“Your generosity will help keep much-loved pets healthy and together with the people who depend on them, making a real difference to those experiencing homelessness across Melbourne.”

— Dr Mark Westman

To Joffa, Nifty, Shazza and everyone involved in making the Commentators Club Luncheon such a success, thank you for turning a wonderful afternoon into a lasting impact for our Melbourne community.

A home is more than four walls.

For many people experiencing homelessness, the unconditional love of a pet provides comfort, companionship and a sense of belonging when so much else in life is uncertain.

This World Homeless Day, we're shining a light on the powerful bond between people and their pets, and why protecting that connection matters.

At Pets In The Park, we're privileged to witness that bond every day through the people and animals we support.

Homelessness doesn't define a person. And everyone deserves dignity, kindness and compassion.

Today, on Vet Nurse Day, we celebrate the incredible veterinary nurses and nursing students who generously volunteer their time and skills at our 12 Pets In The Park clinics across Australia. 💙🐾

This year’s theme — Everyday Heroes: Strength, Skill, and Heart in Action — describes them perfectly.

Our volunteer vet nurses bring all three to our clinics. They comfort anxious patients, assist with examinations and treatments, support our veterinary teams and help create a calm, compassionate environment for the people and pets who come through our doors.

And they do it all by choice — giving their professional skills, their time and, very often, their weekends to help care for pets belonging to people experiencing homelessness.

The faces in this reel represent just some of the many wonderful veterinary nurses and students who support Pets In The Park around the country.

To every one of you: thank you for the skill you share, the compassion you show and the difference you make.

Happy Vet Nurse Day! 💙

We have something very special to share.

Our brand new Pets In The Park video is here — made possible through the extraordinary generosity of our philanthropic partners at PressRoom Philanthropy.

A huge thank you to Alex Walton and Martin Furno, who worked their magic to help us tell the PITP story so beautifully, and to Rodney, Danielle, Graeme and Pete, who shared their experiences with such honesty and authenticity.

For a small charity like ours, having access to professional storytelling of this calibre is incredibly valuable. It helps us show people not only what PITP does, but why it matters — and the extraordinary bond between the people we support and the pets they love.

We're incredibly proud of the result and very grateful to everyone at who made it possible. Your generous support is very much appreciated.

Take a few minutes to watch our story — and please share it with your community.

This week marks Homelessness Week 2026, a time to raise awareness of homelessness in Australia and the collective action needed to create lasting change.

At Pets In The Park, we see every day how important the bond between people and their companion animals can be.

Through our volunteer veterinary clinics, we're proud to provide free veterinary care that helps keep pets healthy and supports the people who love them.

It's practical support, delivered with compassion, and it's only possible because of our incredible volunteers, referral partners, supporters and donors.

Thank you for helping us make a difference...because caring for pets is also caring for people.

We're incredibly honoured to have been selected as the 2026 charity partner for the iconic Commentators Club Grand Final Luncheon.

What began in 1997 as a gathering of just 30 friends with a shared passion for Australian Rules football has grown into one of Melbourne's most anticipated AFL Grand Final week events. More importantly, it has become a remarkable force for good.

For almost three decades, the Commentators Club has chosen to direct the proceeds from its annual luncheon to grassroots charities making a real difference in the community, with over $400,000 distributed so far.

This year, we're humbled that Pets In The Park has been chosen as the beneficiary.

Funds raised will directly support our Melbourne clinics in St Kilda, Melbourne and Frankston, helping us provide free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness.

A heartfelt thank you to Neville "Nifty" James, Geoff "Joffa" Donohue, the Commentators Club committee, and every guest attending and sponsor supporting this year's luncheon. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on the people and pets we support.

The luncheon is already sold out which is testament to the passion of everyone involved but you can join the wait list here: https://www.commentators.com.au/book

We feel incredibly privileged to be part of this year's event and can't wait to be part of what promises to be a fantastic afternoon. You can learn more about this incredible annual event here: https://www.commentators.com.au/
