Before things get too busy with tinsel, treats, and travel, make sure your pets are ready too.
✅ Book their vaccinations early (appointments fill up quickly this time of year!)
💊 Medication refills: please give us at least one week’s notice. We’ll be closed on the public holidays, and we don’t want any pets missing out on their important meds while we’re away.

The clinic will be closed tomorrow. We will re-open with normal business hours on Thursday 5th November.

Please remember not to give BBQ scraps to your pets. The high fat content can upset their tummies.

The ghouls and goblins are out tonight — but let’s make sure our furry friends don’t get spooked too! 🐶🐱

Here are some howl-o-ween safety tips from your friends at Balwyn Central Vet :

🦴 No tricks, just treats (for humans!) — Chocolate, xylitol, and candy are paws-itively poisonous to pets. Keep them out of reach!

🕯️ Avoid a tail of terror — Curious paws + candles or cords = a fright you don’t need.

👻 Beware of the boo bell! — Frequent visitors in costumes can be scary. Create a quiet, cozy “haunt” where your pet can relax.

🧛 Costumes aren’t fur everyone — If your pet looks more stressed than fang-tastic, skip the outfit.

🐾 Keep those tags on, little monsters! — With all the door opening, an ID tag could be your pet’s best treat of the night.

🌩️ Storm Season Reminder 🌩️

Melbourne storms are back, and while we might love a good downpour, our pets often don’t.
If your dog or cat gets anxious during thunder, here are a few things that can help:
-Set up a quiet, safe space for them to hide.
-Keep curtains closed to block flashes.
-Play calm music or white noise.
-Make sure they can’t escape through open doors or gates.

If your pet struggles badly during storms, book an appointment to come chat to us — there are treatments and training options that can really help. 💙

With longer, warmer days finally upon us, it’s the paw-fect time to enjoy evening walks with your furry friends! 🐕💛 But don’t forget — warmer weather also means extra care is needed to keep your pets safe and healthy.

🚶‍♂️💧 Top Tips for Dog Walks This Season:

-Walk early or late: Avoid peak heat times (11am–3pm) to prevent heatstroke and burnt paw pads.

-Hydration is key: Bring water for both you and your pup.

-Test the pavement: If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws!

-Watch for snakes: Warmer weather = more snake activity, especially in grassy or bushy areas.
