🌽 Corn cobs are one of the most common (and trickiest!) foreign bodies we see in dogs. 🐶
If swallowed whole, they’re the perfect size to get stuck in the stomach or intestines and can quickly become a life-threatening obstruction — often requiring surgery 🏥
At Advanced Vet Care, we have a range of endoscopes, which means if a corn cob is caught early, we can sometimes retrieve it from the stomach without surgery 🙌
But it’s not always that simple… on the way down, strong jaw muscles can crush and compress the cob, helping it slip down the oesophagus. On the way back up? We don’t have those muscles to help — which can make retrieval much more challenging.
If you think your dog may have eaten a corn cob 🌽, early veterinary attention can make all the difference 🐾
