It’s not just for show — they’re smelling the world around them! This beautiful coastal carpet python is demonstrating the tongue flick here!

Snakes use something called the Jacobson’s organ (also known as the vomeronasal organ), located in the roof of their mouth. When they flick their tongue, they collect tiny scent particles from the air and bring them back to this special organ to “read” what’s going on.

🏡 Recognise their environment
👋 Even tell who you are!
