Thought I'd better put up a notice, of the goings on around CDC at the moment.
Crashing Dog Creations is currently on hold, meaning that I won't be taking on any jobs for the foreseeable future. Currently branching out into other fields and taking on other ventures. Still working in the "creativity" side of things, but not individual jobs.
I'll keep posting up things I'm working on, from time to time. But at the moment I'm flat out doing other projects.
Keep an eye out for posts.

The Hot Rot pick up Firepit is ready to go.
Very unique, functional, fire pit, garden art...and it's big.
Fully welded construction, with an exhaust system the blows smoke and flames.
Measures at 1760mm (nearly 6ft) long, it's 840mm wide at it's widest point (the rear wheels), and it's 930mm tall (top of exhaust stacks). The hood (bonnet) opens from both sides, so it doesn't matter which way you'd like it to sit in your yard, it's accessible. It will hold a heap of wood internally, giving a huge fire. The steel wheels, fitted to solid axles, actually turn, making moving the pit very easy. Exhaust stacks are real, letting the smoke and flames roar out. The pickup bed in the back is great for stacking your wood in. And the spiderweb grill looks awesome.
The Hot Rod really pumps out the heat. Fill it full of wood and let it roar.
Available now, sale price $1650.
Also available painted in a flat back, with heatproof (1000°c) paint, and the exhaust stacks in a silver heatproof paint as well... All for an extra $120.
If picking up, will need a trailer or ute, can assist with loading. Delivery is available at a fee, Melb (Ferntree Gully) based.

It's finished. Time to sell.
Replica WW2 bomb, firepit.
Stands 1700mm tall, base is 1m & 1/2m.
Make a great functional garden art piece.
Design taken directly from WW2 bomb pictures. The firepit has an internal welded steel frame, supporting the pit. Door opens on unique hinge set up, allowing door to open fully. Door has an internal steel flap, that keeps the fire within the pit, when door is closed. Base opens for easy cleaning of ash. Can be used with based closed or set open, about 25mm. This gives great air flow, for when you want the fire roaring. And yes, the smoke and flames pour out the tail exhaust port. Painted in heat proof (1000°c) paint, including the decals. "INCENDIARY" meaning to make fire.
Delivery available for a fee, Melbourne (Ferntree Gully) based.

Workshop clear out.
I have two ex-display fire pits for sale. Both of them are made from steel semi-truck rims.
First one is a "steer" rim, so it has stepped shape to it. It comes with a solid base (10mm thick steel) and strong, but short, steel legs. Each leg has a foot on it, so the pit won't sink into the ground. This style usually sold for $200ea, and this one is available for $100...half price.
Second one is a "trailer" rim, so it has flat sides, and a smooth shape. It also comes with steel legs, but these are longer than the other style, while still having the feet on each leg. It has an angle steel "ash tray" in it. This makes cleaning much simpler. It also comes with steel handles, making it easier to move around, if needed. Usually sold for $250, this one is available for $150.
Send a PM if you're interested. Located in Melb, but can ship Aus wide.

It's almost ready, and I couldn't wait any longer, without sharing.
This is the new firepit.
"It's the bomb!"..."It's a blast."
Yes, WW2 replica bomb.
It stands over 6ft tall, when in it's stand.
These pics are the 'burn off' stage. Removing paints and oils.
The stand is very stable, the internal spine keeps it all balanced. The exhaust port and surround, designed straight from WW2 bomb pics. The base opens, allowing easy ash clean up. It can also be set open (only slightly) to allow for better air flow, keep the fire roaring.
Once this burn is done, I'll fit the internal fire grill, keeping the fire up from the base, again creating better air flow. The pit will be painted in heat resistant grey paint, with WW2 bomb lettering...and maybe a message from the soldiers of the time. The stand will be painted black, to separate it from the pit.

This one will be available for purchase in a few days. Sale price $850. A perfect garden art piece, that is also practical. These WW2 bomb pits (along with the HotRod Pit) will be commissioned pieces, and I can make more.

If you have any ideas for a firepit, or a sculpture, just send me a message, we can discuss what it is you'd like built.

A new fire pit is currently in the build stages. I'm hoping to have it complete very soon.
Not going to give too much away, about what it is, only to say... It's a blast.

Here's a dog run I installed on Friday.
The client wanted an area of their yard (that was undercover of the roofline) enclosed, where their dogs could safely run and play. It has a long garden bed down one side, with a covered paved area as well.
A simple, yet very effective, way to enclose this was with weld mesh panels. Strong 75x25mm uprights, with 10mm plate steel, brace supported bases were welded together in the workshop, then painted. These would be fitted between each panel to give them plenty of support, as the fence wasn't being connected to the house in any way.
The supports were dyna-bolted to the concrete base, below the pavers. Then each panel was placed and secured to the uprights. A gate was fitted, with anti rust hinges, and a slide bolt to keep it shut.
The garden bed had anti-dig measures put in place, along the fence line. This way the dogs couldn't dig out, but they can still dig a "hip hole" to lay in, during the warmer months.

It's go time. The Hot Rod fire pit is fully welded, time for its first firing up. This first burn will burn off any oils on the steel, any paints left on as well, and also show me if there is any issues with how it's built. And let me say, not a single issue.
Got the wheels built and painted in the last few days. Finished off the pick-up bed, for stacking wood in. Rolled it out of the workshop, yep those wheels turn, making it so easy to maneuver around a yard. Took some pics, then stacked it with some wood, and lit it up. The exhaust stacks work great.
I've now fully filled it with timber, I want to push it to the hottest I can get it...it must work no matter how its treated. And it's roaring now, working perfectly.
Keep an eye on the Crashing Dog Creations page over the next few days... Because this bad boy will be up for sale.
Then I'll start on a new fire pit, that'll be totally different to this, but just as awesome.

When I'm not fitting dog & cat runs, or constructing retaining walls and landscapes... I let my creative side flow. I do sculptures, fire pits, custom cycles (both pushbike and motorbikes), and one off creations.
Here's a current job, in my workshop. A Hot Rod Pickup Firepit. Still plenty to do on it, like construct the front wheels, this one is only there for reference. It'll need to be made out of steel, as this rubber one will melt from the heat. And I'm probably going to redo the rear wheels, as I'm not happy with how these ones look.
The bonnet opens, to fill with wood. Those exhaust stakes, behind the cab area, really work, that's how the smoke (and flames) exit the pit. The wheels will turn, so it can be moved around.
It's 6ft long, 2.5ft wide and 3ft tall. I have no idea what it weighs yet.

And it's job done.
Today was the "cat run" side of this job. After all the pavers were laid over the last two days, today it was onto the cat run. Two new solid gates were needed to be built and mounted. From there it was fit the cat netting. This was fitted from the roof fascia to the top of the fence, fully enclosing the area.
The lovely old cat that lives here, now has a safe area outside, in which to roam.
The client has the fun task of planting out the cat run, with shrubs and flowers...and maybe some cat climbing areas.

Current job is coming along nicely. Pavers are laid, required some special cutting, but the pavers run right up under the wooden edging.
Tomorrow, the work on the cat run begins.
