Today I just want to celebrate your life and the gentle kind soul you were, the love you shared with your brother, your little quirks - like talking to your toy and dragging it around the house, your obsession with carrots, potatoes and tuna, your loud purrs, your resilience and your strength...

Our beautiful brave boy lost his battle today 💔 He passed away in our arms at 10:19 this morning, a few hours before the vet was supposed to come and help him to cross over... We were with him and we told him how brave he is and how much we love him till he took his last breath...

Run free over the Rainbow Bridge our Zor-Zor 🌈💔🐾 No more pain, no more suffering, no more of this horrible disease... You will run through the beautiful meadows, restored to health, on all your four beautiful paws again. Play with other angels up there, chase those butterflies together and wait till we come and meet you all again one day...💞

I'm so sorry we couldn't save you. We always knew we were not going to win this battle, but I wish we could give you more good days with us. You fought like the bravest of warriors and we will remember you for the beautiful brave kind and loving boy you were 🐾

We are still fighting... L-Asparaginase didn't do a "miracle" job but Zorro's platelets have improved a tiny bit - from 11 on Wednesday to 33 today. It is still way below the cut off point for chemo (80), but we have done a tiny step in the right direction. We may try another round of L-Asparaginase on Tuesday 🤞🤞🤞

Another good news is his anaemia has not progressed to the point where we need a blood transfusion. In fact, his haematocrit has come up from 17 to 18.6.

Obviously, all these results are miles away from normal, but I am thankful that at least they didn't get worse. We remain hopeful that we can buy some more time for our amazing brave boy. Please continue keeping him in your thoughts 🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞

P.S. he quite enjoyed the walkie in the backyard today

Today Zorro received L-Asparaginase - an enzyme treatment used to hopefully boost his bone marrow to the point where we can administer chemo again. If he responds - amazing, if not - we may have days to weeks at best...

Please keep everything crossed that Zorro stays strong to fight another day 🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞

This is not the update I was hoping to give. Unfortunately it looks like Zorro's bone marrow stopped producing platelets. Because of this he is not a candidate for the experimental human drug. All of the other chemo drugs could also worsen things. In a person, he would be at the point where he would be given whole-body radiation and a bone marrow transplant - not something that we can do in cats at this stage :(

Please keep Zorro in your thoughts. It looks like we're nearing the end

An update. Zorro had his 4th treatment today with a new chemo drug, after he stopped responding to the previous one. His splenic tumours haven't gotten bigger in the last week, which is good news. We are hopeful the new protocol will be effective for him 🤞🤞🤞

There have been a few other things going on in the background. Last week his platelets dropped to a critically low point and he was at a high risk of spontaneous bleeding. It was also way below the cutoff point for chemotherapy. We had to start him on dexamethasone which is a heavy steroid in the hopes it would improve his platelets count. Today his platelets were still very low but they have gone up to the point where he is no longer at risk of spontaneous bleeding and it was safe to go ahead with chemo.

Today Zorro is a happy boy, he is bright and has a good appetite (especially on steroids)! We are keeping everything crossed he will stay this way for as long as possible 🤞🤞🤞

Today was Zorro's third chemo treatment and I wish I had better news to share with you all... His splenic tumours have doubled in size since last chemo two weeks ago, meaning that his cancer stopped responding to the current protocol 😔

The next step is we're getting a board of oncology specialists to adjust his protocol and pray it works. I feel angry and helpless... I hate cancer...

On the bright side he is feeling bright and happy so much so you'd never think he's sick! He has a great appetite, he has put on 100g in 2 weeks... All looks wonderful on the outside, but sadly not so wonderful on the inside...
Please keep our boy in your thoughts and send him some healing vibes 🙏🫶

I thought after Zorro's amputation Lee would be by his side but I think natural survival instincts kicked in and he doesn't spend as much time with his brother anymore. They still love each other though ❤️
