🌞🐾 Keep Your Pets Cool This Summer! 🐾🌞

Summer heat can be tough on our furry friends, but with a little extra care, we can keep them safe and comfortable! Here are some tips to help your pets stay cool:
1. Provide plenty of fresh water – Make sure your pet always has access to cool, fresh water.
2. Limit outdoor time – Avoid walks during peak heat hours (10 AM - 4 PM). Early mornings or evenings are best.
3. Shade & Ventilation – Ensure your pet has a cool, shaded spot to relax. Fans or air conditioning can also help.
4. Groom regularly – Regular brushing removes excess fur and helps with heat regulation.
5. Watch for signs of overheating – Heavy panting, drooling, or lethargy could indicate heatstroke. Get them to a cool place immediately and contact your vet.

🐾 Is Your Dog Scratching More Than Usual? 🐾

If your pup is constantly scratching, licking, or biting at their skin, they might be dealing with skin allergies. Allergies can cause rashes, redness, and irritation, making your dog uncomfortable. Common culprits include certain foods, pollen, dust mites, and even flea bites!

👩‍⚕️ What to Look For - Swipe to see some examples of skin irritation:
• Red or inflamed skin
• Patches of hair loss
• Excessive itching or licking
• Scabs or sores

If your dog is showing any of these signs, it’s time to consult with your vet. They can help identify the cause and recommend treatments like antihistamines, special shampoos, or dietary adjustments to ease the discomfort.

Remember, a little extra care can make a world of difference for your furry friend’s well-being! 💕

Meet Maodou, a 13-year-old Toy Poodle who came in for some check-ups today and is always up for a cuddle with nurses Brooke and Sinead! 💕🐾 We ran blood tests, X-rays, and did some dental work—and we’re thrilled to report that her blood results and teeth are fantastic for her age! 🩺🦷 No teeth needed to be removed, which is always a win! 🎉

Her X-rays did show some changes in her neck and right patella, which could be causing her some discomfort. To help with this, we’ve started her on a monthly Beransa injection to manage any arthritis-related pain. 💉🐾

She’s doing great, and we’re so happy to keep her feeling her best! 😄🌟
