Safe and reliable transport infrastructure helps our growing community stay connected to jobs, education and essential services.

We're advocating for key transport improvements across Greater Dandenong, including:

✅ Removal of the Heatherton Road, Douglas Street roundabout in Noble Park, to be replaced with traffic lights.
✅ Signalising the Kirkham Road and Frankston-Dandenong Road intersection.

These are few of the projects we are advocating for to improve safety, accessibility and connectivity across our city.

Most aluminium and steel cans can go straight into your kerbside recycling bin 🗑️

Before recycling:
✅ Give cans a quick rinse
✅ Leave the lid on, or place it inside the can so that it can be recovered during sorting

You can also check if they're eligible for Victoria's Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic). Eligible containers can be returned for a 10¢ refund, helping you support recycling while earning a little extra.

At Noble Park Community Centre, inclusion is more than a message. It is lived every day. Their Gentle Exercise for All Abilities program, led by the wonderful Ron Zammit, brings together people of all ages, cultures, abilities, genders and identities in a supportive space where everyone can participate, connect and belong.

This Wear It Purple Day, participants will proudly wear purple to show their support for creating safe, welcoming and inclusive communities for all. Just as they enthusiastically embraced the popular 80s-themed exercise class (pictured), they'll be coming together once again to celebrate kindness, respect and acceptance.

"Exercise is about much more than movement. It's about connection. Every person who walks into our class deserves to feel welcomed, encouraged and accepted for who they are. That's what our Gentle Exercise community is all about." – Ron Zammit

At Noble Park Community Centre, everyone belongs. 💜

How are you celebrating this Wear It Purple Day?

Do you know a young person aged 16–30 who demonstrates leadership, inspires others and makes a positive contribution to the Greater Dandenong community?

In 2026, the award recognised two outstanding young leaders, Atifa Ahmed and Mohammed Nawed.

Atifa has been involved with Council’s Youth and Family Services programs since 2019, including time in the Young Leader’s program in 2024. She also volunteers with Our Village, which assists social workers and maternal and child health workers to support babies and children from disadvantaged families.

Nawed participated in Council’s Young Leader Program in 2023 and continues to mentor and support young people through Council program The Collective. He volunteers with the Centre for Multicultural Youth and works with YLab, drawing on his own lived experience as a migrant to create positive change.

Nominate an outstanding young leader for the 2027 Young Leader of the Year Award.

Nominations close 11.59pm, Monday 5 October 2026.
