In the mid 1800s, Dandenong was an overnight stopping point for passengers travelling from Melbourne to Gippsland, a journey that could take over 24 hours on horseback or by carriage.

Taken over a hundred years later, this 1967 image makes us reflect on the rural origins of our region.

Share your memories of growing up in the area with us in the comments.

Earlier this year we asked for your feedback on the Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve and Sense Trail upgrade.

There was strong support in upgrading the reserves facilities, including more water resources for wildlife, water-based nature play, increased opening hours and more. We've used your feedback to create a final concept plan.

For more information and to view the final concept plan, visit yoursay.greaterdandenong.vic.gov.au/alex-wilkie-reserve-upgrade/community-consultation-feedback

Find out more and take the survey at yoursay.greaterdandenong.vic.gov.au/DAMP
