URGENT WARNING TO CAT AND DOG OWNERS

There is an organised crime syndicate targeting well to do areas and breaking into homes stealing people’s cats kittens dogs and puppies for. suspected dog fighting ring.

They come in groups of men wearing masks snd long gloves to elbow to grab the animals and are i. stolen vehicles with fake number plates.

They cut through the catnet of a friends balcony but they were home upland luckily came down when they heard a noise and now having to mesh in everything h snd get security cameras. There is CCTV footage of each incident and my friend’s has CCTV footage from her neighbours. Forensic police are currently investigating.

Never give out your location online or any colonies. Thank God I secured another place and didn’t reveal my whereabouts for that one out of those areas 🙏🤦🏼‍♀️.

Areas targeted include but are not limited to
Sylvania, Sylvania waters, Kangaroo Point, Cronulla, Oatley, Peakhurst Heights are the ones at the top of my head.

Don’t reveal your feeding areas for street cats to anyone new. You can’t trust anyone.

Save-A-Dog Scheme (SADS) has been operating the Stonnington shelter with remarkable compassion, caring for lost, abandoned, sick, and surrendered animals
—all without the use of euthanasia.
The Council has now put the shelter’s operation out to tender. This presents a significant opportunity for Stonnington City Council to set a strong example for other municipalities by choosing to partner with organisations like SADS that uphold no-kill policies. These policies not only offer a safe and compassionate environment for vulnerable animals, but have also been proven to be economically sustainable, as shown by numerous international studies.

🎇Firecrackers, fireworks, rockets, sparklers - for many people, they’re all part of the New Year’s Eve fun. For animals, though, loud noises and flashes of light cause considerable stress. If we consider how animals perceive noises and lights, it’s easy to understand why many of them are scared of fireworks.
• Dogs and cats perceive sounds much louder than humans because they can hear better.
• Animals struggle to make sense of firework noises as they are not only extremely loud but also unpredictable.
They associate such noises with danger, and all their (survival-) instincts tell them to run to a place of safety.
• To animals, the flashes of light produced by fireworks seem just as threatening as the noises.
• The overall effect is comparable to thunder and lightning during storms, except that they last much longer (up to 48 hours before and after the festivities) - which often trigger a fear response in animal (astraphobia).
• Fireworks are closer to the ground than thunderstorms, so the impact can be even more overwhelming. What’s more, the lights and noises are accompanied by smoke and acrid smells.
💔They often react with panic, sometimes showing physical symptoms such as diarrhoea. This anxiety can lead to fearful escape tactics and can lead animals to scale high perimeter walls, jump through windows, get stuck in fences, end up wandering the streets for weeks, hit by cars, drowning, stolen & other tragic circumstances.

🆘If you see a child or a pet in a hot car, ring 000 immediately.
It’s a police matter, regardless of whether it’s a child or a pet.
Cars can heat up in minutes, so they’ll despatch a car immediately to shatter the window. If the situation is beyond urgent you may not have time to wait for authorities. Take a photograph of the animal or child in the car before shattering the back window. The photo should show the trapped individual, also get a shot of the license plate for authorities. Take a screenshot of the temperature on your phone (before you shatter the car window) as proof you had no option. If the car owner emerges, you may still want to give this info to responding authorities.
