Tidelands Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers

Tidelands Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers We are a small breeder located in Melbourne, Victoria. We operate a small but focused breeding program, with an emphasis on health, temperament and versatility.

We are registered breeders with Dogs Australia (formerly the ANKC), and members of Dogs Victoria and the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of Victoria. We are dedicated to breeding Tollers according to the breed standard and are committed to producing Tollers that are not only well bred, but have exceptional temperaments and are a pleasure to own. We extensively health test and use all of th

e available DNA tests for Tollers, as well as hip, elbow and eye assessments. We currently have two beautiful Tollers, Biggie and Birdie. Our dogs compete in conformation showing and a number of different dog sports, and most weekends you can find us at shows or trials around Victoria. We are always happy to meet interested people at these events. We have no plans to breed until 2024. If this timing suits, please feel free to get in touch.

After just five shows, our beautiful Birdie finishes 2025 as the #1 Toller for Victoria in the Dogzonline Show Dog of the Year Competition.

And little Cookie wins the Victorian Rising Star competition for dogs up to 18 months old. She recently picked up a lovely 8 point Best of Breed at the Dogs Victoria Summer Spectacular under Mrs Wendy Maisey (Canada 🇨🇦) and is now about halfway to her Championship.

Very happy with these lovely critiques of the girls from Mr Paul Scanlon (Ireland) following their Best of Breed and Best Puppy of Breed wins at the Royal.

BEST OF BREED: "Lovely female, expressive head, correctly shaped foreface and muzzle. Excellent eye, well set ear and good skull. Well marked with a good front assembly and good topline, excellent tail set. Moves freely with a good profile. Congratulations."

BEST PUPPY: "Lovely typey puppy, female. Super head, beautiful expression, good front, good in neck and topline with great angulation behind. Nicely marked and moves so well for a youngster. Lovely picture overall, well done."

So proud of my beautiful Birdie taking top honours under Gundog judge Mr Paul Scanlon (Ireland 🇮🇪). She is now a two-time Melbourne Royal BOB winner – her first at just 17 months and again yesterday at 3.5. She just gets better and better and is so consistent and reliable. Love my special Birdie girl ❤️

Not to be outdone, baby Cookie was Puppy of Breed and Reserve Challenge B*tch to Birdie at just her third champ show. I loved this little puppy from the day she was born and it’s so exciting to see the potential I saw in the whelping box maturing in front of me. Thank you to Simone Wilkie for expertly handling Cookie for the run-offs 🍪

Thank you to the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of Victoria for sponsoring the sashes, and Jasmine Birt and LifeWise for our prizes.

We are excited to represent our beautiful breed in the group judging on Saturday.

Looking more like her daddy everyday, 8 month old Cookie goes Best Minor Puppy in Group at the Dogs Victoria Open Show today under Mr Paul Nichols (who is fast becoming one of our favourite judges having awarded mum Birdie at our Specialty last month) ☺️

She’s still getting the hang of this showing business, but I received so many nice comments on her today from other exhibitors and judges. She even got pulled from the lineup for a run at Best in Group. Love my silly little puppy 🍪

The smallest of the AKC’s retrievers, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is intelligent, affectionate, and eager to please.

We had the most amazing day with our beautiful Birdie at the Victorian Toller Specialty on Sunday. She was so happy to be back in the ring with her mummy 🥰

From an entry of 27 Tollers she was awarded:

Thank you to the judges Mr Paul Nichols (Vic) and Mrs Erin Charnock (NSW) for awarding her, and to the committee and sponsors for a great show.
