Hi everyone, Most of you would have heard me speak of Barb, our friend, the one who has been here since the beginning. She has donated so much to so many in her love of sewing, creating Hattie’s Halos and contributing her work to others.
Today I’m here to honour and remember Ron—a man whose quiet strength, gentle humour, and deep kindness left a lasting imprint on everyone lucky enough to know him.
For those of us who had the privilege to meet Ron, we knew right away he was special. He wasn’t someone who needed to be the centre of attention. Instead, he quietly lit up every room he entered—kind with his words, generous with his time, and always quick with a smile that made you feel welcome.
Through our dear friend Barb—we came to know Ron. We didn’t get to see each other often—life and distance made sure of that—but when we did, whether it was a lunch catch-up or just time spent together, we always laughed, always enjoyed ourselves, and always walked away with full hearts.
To say we were shocked when we heard the news of Ron’s passing would be a deep understatement. Even though we knew he’d been facing some health challenges, nothing prepares you for such a sudden loss. Our first thoughts were for Barb—knowing how completely and utterly devastated she would be. The love they shared was deep, real, and steady. A quiet, beautiful partnership that stood as a reminder of what love should be: respectful, supportive, and deeply rooted in friendship.
Ron’s presence in our lives may have felt too brief, but the impact he had is lasting. He was a good man. The kind you were always glad to see, always sad to say goodbye to, and forever grateful to have known.
We’ll remember him not only for the time we shared, but for the way he made us feel—at ease, welcome, and valued. We will carry those memories with us always, and hold Barb especially close in our hearts during this time.
Rest peacefully, Ron. Thank you for the joy, the laughter, and the quiet kindness. You will be missed more than words can say ♥️
