Now with Xmas done and over, and now that shops will start selling easter products, something most people love is chocolate. Most would know it is toxic to dogs but some wouldn't realise Chocolate can be lethal for cats. Although most cats won't eat it on their own, they can be coaxed to eat it by owners and others who think they are giving the cat a treat. The toxic agent in chocolate is theobromine. ... Eating chocolate can cause abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures, and death. Other foods to avoid, is eggs, raw fish, onion in any form, grapes, raw eggs, yeast dough. Raw meat like raw eggs can contain bacteria that causes food poisoning. In addition, an enzyme in raw fish destroys thiamine, which is an essential B vitamin for your cat. A lack of thiamine can cause serious neurological problems and lead to convulsions and coma. We all know our cats will love milky tea but caffeine in large enough quantities can be fatal for a cat. And there is no antidote. Symptoms of caffeine poisoning include restlessness, rapid breathing, heart palpitations, and muscle tremors. This is just some the things that can be toxic to cats, can save us a lot of heartache from an untimely death and large vet bills. Be aware, because we care ❤

Hello to all fur baby parents, If you have any enquiries about pet sitting or visits, could you please inbox me on my pet page. If you leave comments on my pricing guide etc, I don't always see the notifications pop up and would not want too seem rude by not answering your questions. If you could send me message with how many pets, what sort of pets and location with query that would be greatly appreciated, that way I can get back to you promptly. Many thanks and thank you for choosing Home Sweet Home Pet Care 🐴🐇🐈🐕

During this horrendous time of year with all the fires please be aware and look for the following signs of possible smoke irritation in pets:

Difficulty breathing watch for increased breathing rate and effort.
Eye irritation and rubbing of eyes with paws
Fatigue or weakness
Disorientation or stumbling

Tips to protect pets from smoke inhalation:

Keep your pets indoors as much as possible, keep your windows shut at all times.
Birds are particularly sensitive and susceptible and should not be allowed outside when smoke is present.
Avoid outdoor exercise during periods of poor air quality.
Have an animal emergency plan and evacuation kit ready.🧐😃🤓
