❤️ A LITTLE REASSURANCE FROM FARMER DARCY ❤️

We know many of you have seen the recent heartbreaking news about a child in Victoria who sadly passed away after contracting a rare illness associated with a farm environment.

As a travelling farm, we completely understand why this has made some families nervous about attending animal events. As a mum myself, I understand that when you hear something so heartbreaking, your first thought is “Is my child safe?” ❤️

I want to reassure our customers that animal health, hygiene and biosecurity are things we take extremely seriously.

One of the differences with our travelling farm is that we travel to a different venue for each event. Our animals aren't permanently living on an event site or repeatedly using the same ground. We set up on freshly selected, clean ground at each booking, and our equipment, pens and animal areas are cleaned and maintained between events.

Our animals are closely monitored every day, and we take precautions to minimise the risk of illness spreading between animals, people and environments.

We also encourage everyone to wash their hands thoroughly after interacting with animals and before eating or drinking. 🧼

The recent incident was incredibly heartbreaking, and we absolutely don't want to minimise what happened. However, there are risks associated with so many things we do every day — from going to playgrounds and public places, to swimming, eating out, travelling and interacting with animals.

That doesn't mean we should live in fear or stop our children from experiencing the wonderful things life has to offer. It means we take sensible precautions, understand the risks and do everything reasonably possible to reduce them. ❤️

Our animals are our family first. Their health and wellbeing means everything to us, and the safety of the families who trust us to bring our farm to them is incredibly important.

If you've been worried because of the recent news, please message us. We're more than happy to answer any questions about our animals, hygiene practices and the precautions we take at events.

We want your children to experience the magic of meeting animals safely

🐮💙 MEET DEXTER! 💙🐮

Please welcome the newest little member of Farmer Darcy’s Travelling Farm! 🥰

Dexter has joined our farm to become a special little friend for Peach. 🐄💕 We’re hoping the two of them will form a beautiful bond and become the best of friends!

Peach has been a very special little calf to us, so we’re so excited to watch her have a buddy of her own. 🥹

We can’t wait to watch their friendship grow and see all the adventures these two little troublemakers get up to! 😂💕

Welcome to the family, Dexter! 🐮✨

We had such a lovely time at a 1st birthday party yesterday, and we were so excited to take along ome of our fresh new setups! 🥰🐑🐐

Our old setup has served us incredibly well for over 10 years, but it was definitely starting to look tired and run down and they have discontinued the spare parts.

So, it was time for a fresh new look!

We’re slowly transitioning everything over to our new setup — clean, sturdy, neat and professional, while still keeping the Farmer Darcy’s charm you all know and love. 💕🌾

We’re so excited to keep upgrading and creating a setup that looks just as good at your special events as the animals make them feel! 🐐🐑🐓✨

A little reminder about replies 💛

I just wanted to share a little insight into what happens behind the scenes here at Farmer Darcy’s Travelling Farm.

Sometimes I can reply to messages within the same day. Other times, it may take me a few days — and I’m asking for a little patience and understanding when that happens. ❤️

There is no admin person sitting behind a desk answering messages for me.
There is no other animal attendant doing the feeding, cleaning, medication and daily care of the animals.
There is no cook, cleaner or taxi service at home helping me keep everything running.

It is quite literally just me.

I’m a single mum, raising two little kids, running a household, caring for a farm full of animals, managing animal rescues, running a business, doing school drop-offs and pickups, appointments, OT runs, events, bookings, cleaning, feeding, paperwork and everything else that comes with life.

My kids and my animals will always come first. ❤️

If we have a particularly busy week, the kids are unwell, an animal needs extra care, we have a rescue come in, or life simply gets a little overwhelming, sometimes messages have to wait.

I genuinely try to catch up on admin in the evenings once the kids are in bed… but some nights I’m so exhausted that I fall asleep before I even get there. 😴

Please know that I am not ignoring you.
I am not deliberately leaving messages unanswered.
I am simply flat out every single day trying to keep everything going.

I will always continue to do my absolute best to reply as quickly as I can and stay on top of bookings and enquiries. But sometimes I will fall behind, and when I do, I sincerely apologise.

So if you’re waiting on a reply from me, please be patient. I promise I will get to you and I will reply the moment I physically can. ❤️

A little kindness goes a very long way.

Behind this business is just one very tired mum doing her absolute best to make it all work. 🐄🐐🐑❤️

Thank you to everyone who understands, supports me and gives me the time I need. It genuinely means more th

Well, I’m really not having a very good week at all. 💔 It’s been a struggle, and losing Sq**rt on top of everything has really hit hard.

And then, to top it all off, today we discovered the sudden passing of our beautiful farm cat, Popeye. 💔🐾

Popeye was a favourite of everyone on my team and so many of our visitors. I rescued and raised Popeye and his whole litter, and every time I raise kittens I tell myself, “I’m not keeping any this time.” But, as usual… I had another foster fail. ❤️

Popeye was honestly the most affectionate cat I’ve ever known. He was forever purring, lounging around the farm and following everyone around. We always called him our “parrot cat” because he would climb onto a fence post, wait for you to walk past, then jump straight onto your shoulders and wrap himself around your neck. 🥹

And even when he became BIG — and I mean BIG, weighing well over 9kg — he still insisted on being carried around like a tiny kitten still on your shoulders despite the heaviness and claws. 😂❤️

Popeye, we will miss you more than words can say. You were such a special part of our farm and our family.

This has been such a shock, especially with absolutely no explanation for what happened.

Rest peacefully, my beautiful boy. Give Sq**rt a cuddle for me up there. 💔🐾🌈

You were loved by so many, and you will never be forgotten. ❤️

Thank you, Whyalla Show! 🎡❤️

That’s a wrap on our annual family working holiday! 🥰

We were absolutely swamped and busy, but it was so lovely meeting and chatting with so many beautiful people. I loved sharing our animals with you all, seeing the kids’ faces, and of course enjoying a little bit of the show ourselves when we could! 🐴🐑🐐

Although we couldn’t bring our poultry this year, I hope our new donkey addition helped fill that space! 🫏❤️

A HUGE thank you to all our amazing volunteers who took shifts and helped ensure all our little animals stayed safe, happy and gentle throughout the weekend. We couldn’t do it without you! ❤️

And the biggest thank you to Nanny Jan and my mum, Sandy, for ALWAYS supporting me, coming along for the big trip and helping with absolutely everything. You two are my rocks, and I’m so lucky to have you by my side. ❤️

Thank you for another wonderful year, Whyalla! We’ll see you all again next year! 🎡✨

Today, I had to say goodbye to my gentle giant, Sq**rt. 💔🐂

Sq**rt made it to 13 years old, and today his palliative care came to an end. I am so incredibly grateful that we were given so much time together, but his severe arthritis and joint problems had simply become too much. He let me know he was ready, and as heartbreaking as it was, I had to listen.

This has been such a shock. It happened so quickly, and my heart is absolutely broken.

Sq**rt has been a huge part of my life. He watched me grow from a young girl into a mother of two. He was there through everything. He has been such an iconic part of my business and has brought joy to so many people over the years. So many people have met Sq**rt, loved Sq**rt and have a special memory of him.(please share yours)

Tonight, as the sun set, I farewelled my beautiful boy from this earth in the comfort of his own paddock, surrounded by all of his animal friends — who are also grieving the loss of their king, their leader. 💔

With the help of our amazing vet, Simon, Sq**rt was able to be comfortable and pain-free during his final months. And when the time came, he was given the most peaceful goodbye I could have ever wished for him.

He was sedated first, with me by his side. My enormous one-tonne boy curled himself up into a peaceful little ball and slowly drifted into the most beautiful, peaceful sleep. When I was ready, he was peacefully helped to pass.

It couldn't have been any more beautiful.

I have shed so many tears today. I will probably shed many more. He has been such a huge part of my life, and saying goodbye hurts more than I can put into words.

But I find peace in knowing that he is no longer in pain. He was surrounded by love, in his home, with his friends, and with me by his side.

I love you, Sq**rt. ❤️

I will always have a one-tonne-sized hole in my heart that nothing will ever fill.

But I will carry your memories with me forever.

Thank you for growing up alongside me. Thank you for being there through everything. Thank you for bringing so many people joy.

Thank you for being my gentle giant.

Run free, my beautiful boy. 🐂🌅❤️

You will never, ever be forgotten

Huge shout out to Simon Edwards and his team at Compass Veterinary Livestock Services for all the help over all the years with hoof trims on his bad foot, all the advice and for always making sure he got his medication on time ❤️
