One of the most interesting things to work on would have to be canine skulls; every one is so different and unique, especially breeds like Boston terriers.

Every skull tells its own story. Even within the same breed, there’s so much variation in shape, structure and personality that comes through in bone. The wide-set eyes, the compact little muzzle, missing teeth and worn bone, the subtle differences that make each one completely individual. It’s honestly one of my favourite parts of the process.

No two are ever the same, and that’s what makes them so special to work on.

This is a commission that has already headed home to his guardians after a year-long preservation.

A few close ups of the fox cubs!

Everything had to be hand made for these guys. The forms were cast, carved and rearranged to fit the pose. The jaws, teeth and tongue were cast from each fox and then painted. The ears were made to suit as there are no ear liners small enough. Despite their size, these little guys became one of the most time consuming and challenging projects I’ve worked on. Months went into sculpting, fitting, painting, drying, and refining all the small details needed to bring them back to life.

These foxes were sourced through local invasive species management efforts. In Australia, a single fox can have a devastating impact on native wildlife populations, with foxes responsible for the deaths of countless birds, reptiles and small mammals every year. Their removal from local properties directly helps protect vulnerable native species and ecosystems.

Projects like this are always a mix of artistry, anatomy and conservation, which is a huge part of why I love creating them.

2026 Australian taxidermy championships wrapped up!

I'm still in a bit of shock but incredibly grateful to have received Best in Show for my two fox cubs!

They also received best of division, two best of categories, best group piece, best small mammal award, people's choice award, most artistic entry and competitors choice/artisan award. I still can't quite believe it.

It was so nice meeting so many new people and seeing some familiar faces again over the weekend 🖤

I’ve been having a lot of fun lately creating these memorial domes lately 🤍

This piece features a pet cat skull, carefully cleaned over a period of six months and set on a dark wooden base. Her guardian wanted an arrangement with blues, whites and glass crystals, so we ended up with a preserved blue and white roses as the focal point, deep blue everlasting daisies, delicate white filler blooms like star flowers and babies breath and reindeer moss to give it that natural, woodland feel. I don't normally work with blue but I really love how the contrast turned out.

My goal with these is always to create something that honours the animal; in this case the blue to match the incredible blue eyes this cat had while alive.

Each one is a little different depending on the flowers and feel, and I’m really enjoying exploring different colour palettes and styles. I'll have a few for sale shortly, made with ethically sourced rabbit and fox skulls and pieces.

If anyone has been considering a memorial similar to this piece for a beloved pet, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to chat about ideas 💙

Today we finished the skeletal preservation and pelt preservation of Volpix, a much-loved Pomeranian 🖤

You might remember Volpix from last year. Skeletal preservation tends to take a lot longer than pelt preservation, so after an extra six months of care the skeletal preservation is finally complete too. Both processes were carried out with great care and patience, focusing on long-term stability. Every step is done slowly and carefully, with respect for the animal and the bond they shared with their family.

This also marks the final pelt preservation on our current list. We’ll be taking a break from accepting new taxidermy and pelt preservation commissions after this to rest, reset, and ensure we can continue offering this work to the standard it deserves. Hopefully it won’t be for too long 🖤 We'll still be taking skull preservation commissions and a few skeletal preservations depending on size.

Thank you, as always, for trusting us with such meaningful pieces and for your continued patience and support.

Recently I finished the skull preservation of Spot, a much-loved Border Collie. A little while ago, I had the honour of preserving his brother Ollie as well, which made working on Spot especially meaningful.

Every animal I work with is treated with care, patience and respect. It’s always a privilege to help preserve such a special part of a family’s memories and to give these beautiful companions the dignity they deserve.

Rest easy, Spot. Reunited with your brother once more 🖤🌹

We're back to preserving skulls again!

I'm still not taking on taxidermy or pelt preservation yet, but if you're wanting a skull preserved I'll have free space from next week onwards 🖤 We're able to preserve rats to large dogs and anything in between.

Pelt preservation for another pomeranian 🖤 The rest of him is still being processed, and will probably take another few months or so. Skeletal preservation generally takes 6-12 months while pelt preservation can be finished in just a few weeks.

His pelt was finished quite a few months ago, it's just taken me a while to get around to uploading him.
