A tribute to our chili dog, our Wolfie Queen, the matriarch of inner wolf who crossed the rainbow bridge in our home on the autumn equinox Saturday 21st March 2026.
Chili dog, how to honour you with mortal words and photos feels like it just falls way short of the unconditional love you gave us all in the full 15 years of life you lived….
You entered the world 17 November 2010, and grew up during the flood in Bundaburg as one of 10. Your registered name “Avokah Lil Hot Chili”
Your timely arrival aligned with the outset of our wolfie business adventure, so you have graced our wolfie tribe with your presence for over 15 amazing years.
And what a life you have lived and what a legend you are to so many…
You have been, and continue to be, the foundational rock and the heart which raises us up for our local wolfie community.
From the outset you were a bundle of energy, enthusiasm and mischief, maturing over time into our wise in-store matriarch, greeting all who chose to enter and follow your example of thriving..
You and your favorite retrieving toy have been on so many adventures together, kayaking, sunrise and sunset beach and forest walks, creek swims and camping adventures.
You often made complete strangers smile, with your daily ritual of carrying your favorite toy through the forest, to the beach, retrieving it from the ocean many times and, when satisfied , carried it all the way back through the forest and home again .
Middle age 7-9 years old you loved your jetty jumping competitions at aqua dogs and you leaped for absolute joy when it was your turn to run up the ramp and strut your stuff .
You even won some medals!
You also tried your keen nose at some sniffer works and were our chief “lab tester” for new products. You weren’t the most discerning critic though as you just loved everything!
You are the mother to 26 children, from 3 litters, many of whom you actually outlived, but now you are reunited with them to frolic once again and retrieve in the waves and fight over who gets the toy!
You loved the water like another home and everywhere you went, if there was water, even a tiny mud puddle, you would find it!
In your last moments you even swam a victory lap of our pool at home. Your favorite daily magnesium bath.
We believe you were an otter in a past life, with your thick, clumsy wagging tail to boot!.
Over the past few months you have remained our stoic warrior, holding space for all of us, through all our emotional trials and tribulations, even through your own brave battle.
Chili dog you are truly immortal and timeless.
Your graceful energy will live on forever in our hearts as we will be in yours.
Your sweet face is embedded on the label of every container of dog food we produce and your black silhouette is in our logo and forever immortalized on our wolfie vans.
In the end, we honoured your path, with respect, dignity, grace and with the unconditional love you deserved by exchanging your pain for our own.
But wherever we may go, your spirit will continue to travel alongside and guide us.
