Homer the handsome boy came to see us after experiencing ongoing urinary issues and recurrent blockages.
Male cats can be prone to urinary blockages, which occur when they are unable to pass urine properly. Signs can include straining in the litter tray, frequent attempts to urinate, crying, blood in the urine, or not passing urine at all. Without urgent treatment, this condition can quickly become life-threatening.
Due to Homer’s recurrent blockages, he underwent a specialist procedure called a perineal urethrostomy (PU surgery). This surgery creates a new urinary opening to help urine pass more easily and reduce the risk of future obstructions.
Homer has been recovering well and enjoying lots of cuddles from the team 💙🐾
