Gorgeous Gabby was adopted today—could her beautiful brother Boyd be next? 🐾

🐾 Meet Our Adoptable Dogs! Homes Needed Now 😍

Here at Mareeba Animal Refuge we do two important things;

✨ Rescue – We save cats and dogs from local pounds and take in surrenders; giving them vet care, safety, and the chance at a forever home.

✨ Boarding – We also offer boarding for cats and dogs. Every boarding stay directly funds our rescue work—covering vital costs like vet bills, food, and facility upkeep.

Here’s the catch: our kennels can only hold so many dogs at one time. When they’re full with rescues, we can’t always take in the next urgent soul. And when they’re full with boarding dogs, we need to have already placed as many rescues as possible into homes to keep things moving.

That’s why adoptions are so important right now. Finding a forever home for a rescue dog doesn’t just change that dog’s life—it also opens up a kennel for the next one in need.

We are at capacity with some truly beautiful dogs waiting for their families. From playful puppies to gentle giants, affectionate cuddlers to loyal companions—there’s a match here for every kind of home.

✨ Spotlight on Our $150 Friends: Agy & Punk! ✨

Two of our gorgeous boys are ready for their second chance—both with a special reduced adoption fee of just $150. Having come into care with most of their vet work already complete, we’re able to offer them at this lower fee in the hopes of finding their forever families quickly.

🐾 Meet Agy – A gentle Bull Arab x Greyhound who just adores being by your side. Agy is the definition of a companion dog—happy to join you on adventures or curl up for couch cuddles. He’s affectionate, food motivated, and already great with kids and other dogs.

ON TRIAL 🤞 🐾 Meet Punk – A young, fun-loving Staghound x with a heart of gold. He’s playful, affectionate, loves water, and is wonderful with kids and other dogs. He’s also shown positive behaviour around cats! Punk is ready to be someone’s loyal companion and brighten every day with his goofy, loving personality.

Both boys come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and up to date on flea/tick/worm/heartworm preventatives.
