✨ Meet beautiful Dusty! ✨
She came in to see Dr Jason for a TPLO surgery (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) 🦴

🐾 So what does that mean?
Dogs can sometimes tear an important ligament in their knee called the cruciate ligament (a bit like a sports injury in humans). When this happens, it makes walking painful and the knee wobbly.

A TPLO helps fix that by changing the angle of the shin bone so the knee becomes stable again — no more slipping or sliding when they walk or run! Think of it as giving the joint a clever new design so they can move comfortably again.

💪 Dusty’s surgery went beautifully and she was already up on her paws just a few hours later! What an absolute superstar. 🌟

We’re so proud of her and the amazing surgical and nursing team who helped her through the day. Here’s to Dusty’s smooth recovery and many more happy zoomies ahead! 🐶💛

Today we celebrate our incredible team of vet nurses! 🩺💚

Thank you for showing up every day with so much compassion for every patient, and for the endless dedication you bring to the clinic. From scrubbing into surgeries, monitoring anaesthetics, taking X-rays and bloods, to doing dentals, nursing hospital patients, and keeping everything running smoothly.
You truly do it all.

You go above and beyond every single day, making sure our patients are cared for, our vets are supported, and our coffee cups are never empty.

We’re so lucky to have such a skilled, caring, and hardworking team.

Today we say farewell to our amazing nurse Mon as she heads off into the next chapter of her veterinary nursing career. 🩺💛

For the past 3 years, Mon has been an absolute joy and privilege to work with. Watching her grow as a nurse, mentor our junior team members, and bring her sunshine energy into every shift has been nothing short of inspiring. 🌞

She’s cared for patients with so much love, supported her teammates with kindness, and filled the clinic with laughter.

We’re all so sad to see her go, but so excited to see what’s ahead, because any clinic that gains her is incredibly lucky. 🐾✨

Thank you for everything you’ve done, Mon.
Your hard work, compassion, and positive spirit have left a lasting mark on all of us.
We wish you nothing but the best as you take on your next adventure. 💛

Each guest enjoys their own private suite (complete with secret tunnels for those bunking with their household bestie).
Their daily itinerary? Playing with the nurses, sampling just one more treat 🧁 , lounging on the cat trees, and when the zoomies hit — putting our kitty treadmill to the test. 👟

The cattery is truly a highlight of our day… and with endless cuddles on tap, the cats seem to agree 💕

Meet Dr Jacob, the newest addition to our Glen Iris team! 🐾

After graduating from Sydney Uni in 2013 (and taking a year to travel ✈️), Jacob began his career in general practice around Kogarah and Belmore. It was there he discovered his passion for preventative medicine and surgery, going on to complete advanced training in both soft tissue and orthopaedics through Massey University.

Most recently, Jacob moved to Melbourne for a surgical internship at MVSC and is now working toward his ANZCVSc membership exams. He’s excited to bring his skills to our stellar Glen Iris team and deliver the high standard of care your pets deserve 💙.

Outside the clinic, you’ll find Jacob outdoors—whether it’s hiking, rock climbing, or skiing ⛰️❄️.

He can’t wait to meet you and your fur babies! 🐶🐱💫

🌿 What To Do If You Find a Possum This Season

Possum season is here in Victoria, and it’s common to see our furry neighbours out and about — especially the young ones. Here’s what you should do if you come across one:

🐾 If the possum looks injured
• Call a registered wildlife rescuer straight away (e.g. Wildlife Victoria on 03 8400 7300).
• If it’s safe, gently place the possum in a secure, ventilated box with a towel and keep it warm and quiet until help arrives.
• You can also take injured wildlife to your nearest veterinary clinic — vets will treat and stabilise them before passing them on to a licensed wildlife carer.
• Do not attempt to feed it — the wrong diet can cause serious harm.

🌱 If the possum looks healthy but is alone
• Observe quietly before intervening — sometimes mums are nearby.
• If it’s in immediate danger (on the ground, exposed to cats/dogs, or very young), place it safely in a soft, ventilated box and contact a wildlife rescuer for advice.
• If it’s an older juvenile moving around well, it may simply be dispersing and doesn’t need rescue.

💧 Warmer Weather Wildlife Care

As the days heat up, local wildlife can really struggle. A simple way to help is to leave out:
• A shallow bowl of water in a shady spot.
• Place a stick or rock inside so small animals can climb out safely.
• Refresh the water daily.

Every small act helps support our local wildlife through the hotter months. 🌞💚
