Does anyone have some left over ‘we refuse to eat that tasteless cardboard Rhodes hay’ taking up space in your shed and you’d like to get rid of it, I have a job for it? 🙏

Ohhh, when I get a spare moment I so want to go back and revisit physics and start studying biophysics so I don’t need a translator to read Kruse’s work, that man has put his hands on some mighty interesting buried work that the Russians leant into rather than becoming big pharma puppets!

Canker …. Did you also know I NEVER need to do surgery to fix these cases, once again, figure out why the physiology is compromised and you solve the problem. No antibacterials and no antifungals needed, it’s not a primary infectious process … just the same as thrush is NOT caused by any infection!

One of the worst cases I ever saw had 2 major surgeries and then multiple frog resections and hadn’t been able to be ridden for 3 years due to the problem constantly recurring. At no point had the primary issue been identified. Once that was found and addressed he returned to work and competition. It’s a pity his frog had been butchered so many times as it lost all its normal shape and size and remained a shrunken atrophied frog as a consequence from all the surgery induced scars.

Ps. Canker tissue is not what you think it is, I even disagree with the histopathologists, my hypothesis for what’s happening fits with a little secret my old surgeon boss John Van Veenendaal once told me about post surgical complications in hooves, that’s how I figured out how to fix it without surgery.

And while we’re marinating on this topic, let’s have a survey, who’s had a front foot canker vs a hind foot canker? Let me know in the comments.

What a fascinating thread on endotoxin and its consequences, guess who it makes me ponder about !!

Eat your omegas part 3 …. Soooo, as a person who struggles to eat breakfast due to the nausea it induces if I eat anytime before midday, and with the new I have to eat protein and carbs prior to gym workouts rule, I foolishly tried Mackeral.

….. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

OMFG, Mackeral is waaaaay worse than disgusting sardines as far as triggering my gag reflex whilst not actually tasting that bad 😂😂

And I’ve got two more cans in the cupboard, so they have to be eaten, cos I also have a don’t waste anything itis! (Although I’m sure the cats could eat it for me🤔)

So this morning, I drowned the Mackeral in salt and pepper and capers, that has helped! 😂😂

Ooop, nope, I stopped eating halfway through to write this and just went back to them and 🤮🤮🤮🤮nope nope nope, I’m never buying Sardines or Mackeral again, I’ll have to stick to Salmon.

Unfortunately eating the actual fish seems to work a heck of a lot more than taking fish oil capsules, which I’ve done for years and barely felt much difference.

….. oooop, 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮 here comes the I put anything more than fruit in my stomach for breakfast reaction 🤢🤢🤢

…. Ooof, and then the new collagen powder I’ve bought is almost as nausea inducing, omg, I need to wash everything down with ginger and licorice 🤢🤢

Breakfast feels like THE MOST WILDLY UNNATURAL idea for me, and that’s off the back of a fasting keto day yesterday!

I’ve got to do my homework and buy one of these, maybe it will help me get my thyroid hormone conversion happening! 🙏

😂😂 I was concerned I’m not getting enough cold exposure to charge my mitochondria during winter, even though I work outside in this pouring rain n howling wind…… problem solved, I just sat in my house for a couple of hours doing secretarial duties and since I have a ‘too lazy to put the fire on during the day itis’ I’m now a popsicle! 😆😆

I think my toes have left the building.

I might have a quick trip over to Adelaide, so I could see some horses on 12th, pm of 13th or 14th, text me if you want an appointment and we’ll figure out the logistics. Those who had herd health checks last time are due to see how they’re progressing with their mineral status.

This week I’ve managed to work some magic on yet another hoof that was booked for pedal bone surgery after a penetrating nail/toe clip/bolt injury. That’s 4 cases now. All of them dramatically reduced lameness with 1-7 days of having their physiology corrected.

The rule of thumb my old boss the great surgeon Dr John Van Veenendaal taught me was, you can tell the difference between a surgical case and a regular abscess by the quantity of pus. Regular abscesses pop, ooze a bit of watery yellow/black/grey smell that may soak only 1-2 bandages and then they reduce in the amount of discharge. Infected pedal bones pop abscesses and produce voluminous amounts of thick creamy/custard pus.

When I say voluminous, I mean a tablespoon of thick cheesy pus every 12-24 hours with the bandages being soaked and the pus oozing out the top of the bandage. It’s a radically different amount of pus production, and rather than reducing in amount it just keeps on coming and tends to recur.

They should also have a more radioopaque (whiter) ring of bone around the more radioluscent (blacker) patch of bone preferably visible on two views, and they may have a white island of bone in the centre of the black area which is a sequestrum (dead bone).

Post surgery I then apply my hoof care methods so they don’t need to be stabled, they don’t need a hospital plate and they heal and return to work 4x faster than those who do. Normally horses in hospital plates need box rest and a hospital plate shoe for 3-4 months. With my technique the surgical site is fully healed within 4-6 weeks, all the while being kept pristinely clean despite bouncing around in a small yard which often can become filthy muddy.

As always, my cases recover without needing any bute at all as I can keep them pain free simply by maintaining excellent phsyiological health.

It’s mighty fun turning these cases around. I don’t cancel the surgeons I just postpone while we have a little experiment and usually within 1-2 weeks we know the answer.

Do you want to know a really handy way to find a subtle wobbler horse? Examine them in the dark with a head torch on, their ataxia and goose stepping suddenly becomes really obvious!! As soon as they can’t see very well their drunkenness shows up massively.

I was just trimming someone’s horse tonight and as we led him back to the paddock I heard him lose his rhythm and turned around to see him goose stepping nicely!! That’s the second horse whose wobbles has shown up in the dark! During the day they look quite normal.
