This beautiful Mum-to-be attended our Malanda clinic for an ultrasound to check on the health of her babies 👩‍⚕️

The fur scritches from Nurse Elise were so good that she just couldn't stop kneading throughout her appointment 🐈

With H5 bird flu detected in Australian wildlife, it is important to know what to do if you find an unwell or deceased bird. 🐦

Follow three steps: Avoid. Record. Report.

Avoid touching or moving the bird, and keep children and pets away. Record the date, time and location, and take a photo or video from a safe distance if possible.

Report it to the 24-hour Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888. 📞 Follow the instructions provided about collection or disposal. Do not bring sick or dead wildlife into the clinic.

Vale Dr Sandra Baxendell

As most of our clients who own goats would know, Dr Sandra was a wealth of knowledge. A kind and passionate goat vet who was so incredibly generous with her time.

She was available to consult with on cases, gave her time to help educate farmers and her colleagues all over the world.

The goats have sadly lost their biggest ally. And the veterinary community has lost the woman who, as Dr Bill Tranter once described “knew everything about goats that was worth knowing”.

Our biggest sympathies to her loved ones.

No pile of office work can ever beat the opportunity to cuddle a beautiful Dachshund puppy! 😍

General Manager Jason heard whispers of puppy cuddles up for grabs in reception which were too good to pass up - and we couldn't blame him! 🐕

While you may not be familiar with the term ‘NSAIDs’ (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), you may have heard of veterinary medicines such as carprofen, meloxicam or firocoxib. 💊

These prescription medicines reduce inflammation and can help manage pain and fever. 🐾 When used appropriately, NSAIDs can be very helpful for treating post-operative pain and inflammatory conditions, as well as managing long-term problems such as arthritis.

However, they can have adverse effects, particularly on the stomach and intestines, kidneys and liver, so they aren’t suitable for every pet and may require ongoing monitoring.

Never give your pet ibuprofen or another human pain reliever unless specifically instructed by a veterinarian, as these medicines can be dangerous for pets. ⚠️

If you think your pet is unwell or in pain, please reach out to our team for help.

Love turning complicated stuff into words people actually read?

Rise Vets is looking for a Marketing Coordinator to be the voice — and the keeper — of our brand across all eight of our clinics: Atherton, Charters Towers, Cooktown, Edmonton, Innisfail, Malanda, Ravenshoe and Weipa.

Want your work to help animals and their people across eight rural clinics in North Queensland — from dairy herds and working dogs to cherished pets and elite horses?

After a team that backs flexibility, work/life balance and happiness at work (and was listed as one of Australia’s 30 best workplaces for women)?

And would you rather be the one who looks after a brand than just decorates with it? Well this one might just have your name to it!

Both of these beautiful little fluffs recently attended our Malanda clinic for their first vaccination and health check 🐈

They both passed with flying colours and were rewarded with some extra cuddles from our after-school student Abby! 😍

We look forward to watching these beauties grow into the future 🫶
