Another weekend spent working🙄 tough life I live getting client horses out and about🤩

Trips like these give the horses a great test- from floating 5+ hours each way, going on and off the float multiple times, being in tape yards, getting tied up at the pub, being in a show environment- this weekend with kids on bikes, horses flying past, whips cracking etc and some good bush rides where they have to think about where they are putting their feet

Gem is an athletic mare with plenty of ability and presence. Standing at 16hh, she is a lovely type for someone looking for a horse with a bit of an engine and the athleticism to turn her hand to a variety of disciplines. I believe she would be best suited to a confident home where her ability and work ethic can be put to good use.

During her time here, I have ridden Gem to the pub, down to the river, jumped her at the pony club and taken her to ride around at an event, she has handled everything well. She is happy to head out alone or in company, making her a versatile mare who enjoys getting out and about however, Gem is a forward-moving mare with plenty of energy, and I feel she would be better suited to someone wanting more than just a trail horse, she is bold and confident and is generally happy to give everything a go whether that’s river crossings, cross country jumps, new environments etc. She enjoys getting out and about and is the sort of horse who will give new experiences a try rather than shy away from them.

She’s easy to catch, rug, hard ties, floats well, respectful of fencing, can get a bit matey when paddocked with others but is good to be paddocked alone.

“Just My Princess”

Princess is an absolute favourite out on the trails and is the sort of mare who really shines out and about. She’s sure footed, brave and just happy to be out exploring.

In the arena, Princess will do as she’s asked but she isn’t going to be the next dressage superstar, but that’s not where she shines. She’s much more suited to someone who enjoys a ride out, exploring the bush or riding to the pub and clocking up the miles.

She’s a sensible, unflappable type and doesn’t get hot after a canter. She’s good to jump, go through water, not phased with dogs, stock, traffic, bridges etc, will stand tied at the pub, float etc all day

She’s great to ride out alone or in company, is happy to lead or be at the back- she has a resting bitch face but is all bark no bite- she’s had horses up her bum and been up other horses bum and not kicked or bitten.

Easy to catch, rug, wash, good for farrier (currently has front shoes on), she can move a little if you crank the girth straight up- I tend to go a little slower and she appreciates that.

If I didn’t have to be riding client horses out, I’d buy her for myself as she’s the kind of horse you could throw on the float and take adventuring of a weekend.

Week two under saddle has been all about getting out and exploring the bush, exposing this girl to new environments and continuing to build her confidence

I put a big emphasis on getting horses out and about during their education, giving them the opportunity to see and experience the world around them while learning to stay relaxed, think for themselves and trust their rider.

Gem flying around the cross country jumps today. She is going to make someone a super all rounder. Thanks ss_farriery for the vids

I have also learnt the hard way that i was supposed to dilute the purple shampoo I used so Gem now has a purple tail 💜

First week under saddle is going well for Peaches. Plenty of miles out exploring the world will do her the world of good and help set her up for the future.
