Good Bye Pleystowe Poultry
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. In this case, it's my beloved chicken business, Pleystowe Poultry. I have just graduated year 12, and now the next stage of life, university, moving away and taxes await me. So it is with great sadness that I announce that I will need to rehome the majority of my prized chicken flock before I head off next year.
I remember how this started, and looking back, it was a complete accident. Dad bought 9 chickens in November 2022, and through lots of breeding and some smart chicken investments, the flock quickly grew to 100+. This huge flock wasn't cheap to maintain, and thus Pleystowe Poultry was born.
I want to thank every single customer who has supported my little business over the years and shared my values of free-range, happy chickens. This little business has taken me places, such as the Queensland Youth Parliament in 2024, where I was the Member for Mirani, representing my strong passion for poultry and regional Queensland on the big stage.
Over the last few years, I have learned so much, not just about chickens, but also a bit of business and Facebook marketing, experiences that will help me for a long time to come.
So if you're in the market for some new chickens, or want to adopt some lovely retired laying hens (they still lay, just not every day), send me a message. There is no time like now. In the next couple of weeks, I will be advertising my flock on Facebook. This will include my laying hens, some araucanas, a couple of babies, and potentially some silkies.
Once again, thank you, everyone. It's been an incredible few years.
Thank you,
DeJay
